The Winner of my Affordable Watch Shootout

Image

If you've seen my other posts, you know that I had Amazon deliver seven watches for me to try. My goal was to keep two. I kept the Addiesdive (AD2118) and... it was down to these two for my second keeper.

The Orient Ray II.

I'm sure most of you know about the Orient Ray II, so I'll keep this short.

For better or for worse, the brand recognition tipped the scales in its favor. Was the Orient the best watch of the bunch? Yes. By a lot? Probably not. Some of these newer brands really deliver for the price. The Orient was $160 through Amazon, a day later it was $139!, now it's $167. At the price I paid, I'm very happy.

I like the blue dial, which looks deep and rich in the sunlight with a starburst pattern. Sometimes it's a navy blue, sometimes it's a vivid bright blue! The lume was not the best of the bunch, but it suffices. The bracelet is very comfortable, but after a few days -- it's squeaky.

I think it'll be a solid watch for years to come based on what I see out in the wild. That's what I was looking for.

I got a Ray 2 about three months ago and I'm a big fan.

Unbeatable value and just a really cool watch. Also a strap monster. I have worn my black one on brown leather ( I know!) and black rubber..
