Pagani Design Explorer II Homage (PD1682)

This is one of the affordable watches I tried out not too long ago.

Pagani Design Explorer II Homage (PD1682)

Movement: Pearl DG5833 (?), stainless steel bezel, 42mm dial, 12mm thick, screw down crown with 100m water resistance. Sapphire crystal, I couldn't tell if there was any AR coating.

This is Pagani's knock off, er, I mean homage of the Rolex Explorer II GMT watch. It's nearly 1:1, but with a Pagani Design logo. The stainless-steel case and bracelet are nice. They don't feel as cheap as I thought they would. In fact, the watch looks great (except for the logo 🙂). Pagani would probably sell a ton more of these if they just put their logo mark on the dial and left off the words "Pagani Design."

It came with a bright orange NATO strap, which matches the GMT hand on the watch. The white dial is very nice, especially under the lume. The dial is 42mm, which I have now determined is nearly too big for my hand. It also has a cyclops, which isn't my favorite (ugh, at least it was on straight.)

With all of that said, I thought the fit and finish on this watch was quite nice -- excellent, even! I would have been more tempted to keep it if had been just a little smaller and it had something other than the Pearl movement. I'm not sure about that one.

The exhibition case back is a nice touch (I love those), you get to see Pagani's take on the Rolex's signature rose/red colored gear.

Ultimately, this one went back. You can get it for $109+shipping and wait for it from China or pay...$129 at Amazon (ships from USA) https://amzn.to/3JIzmc5

Repost from my old account for anyone interested.

It's crazy what you can get for less than $200 these days. I've also wondered why these companies brand their watches so prominently. I guess they can say they are making it clear it's not a fake, but this would be a better-looking watch without the extra words. Actually, my first thought was that people would think it was a Tudor if they just used the shield logo.

I did a poor job of staging the watch for the photos... hehe, but yes, this watch is very nice for sub-200.

I've often thought about 'sterile' dials. Without ANY branding at all, which San Martin, Pagani, and others will do for you (on Aliexpress), does that make it worse or better?
