Good Evening fellow watch enthusiasts. Thoughts?

I've been eyeing this Q Timex GMT with this specific batman bezel, what are your thoughts on them I found one for 260 USD and was contemplating it, Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Personally, I think that the price on that is too high.  With the rapidly increasing proliferation of the NH34, you could probably get something with an automatic GMT and sapphire for a similar amount or less.

·

My Q (no GMT) is a great looking watch but whenever I set it and push the crown back in the minute hand jumps a tiny bit and as a result it never lines up the way it should. Far from a big deal but enough to make me crazy. As long as that’s acceptable the whole Q line is pretty nice.

·

I had the pepsi version and was nice enough, especially if you are into watches 40mm and under. Don't pay over retail - $220ish. Lurk on ebay, amazon, Timex's website etc and you'll get one soon enough!

I was given a Stuhrling Aviator (posted in today's WRUW) and decided to look through their site and found this GMT which also has your black/blue Batman style bezel. I don't know much about this brand but it sure looks quite nice. Sale less that $100. Might just get me one!

That would probably drive me nuts

Makes sense, What do you think of the Pagani Design they use the NH34?

I agree, What are your thoughts on Pagani Design from AliExpress?

I don't have any experience with Pagani Design, so I really am not qualified to comment on them. I do know that San Martin, Cronos and Octopus/Baltany all have great reputations for value per dollar.

I guess I might try them and will post about them here, I am kind of fascinated by their Worldtimer. Uses the NH34

Really nice banger of a watch.  Even at the MSRP the watch is good value, timex margins are pretty thin which is made up on volume for them, other brands mark up double for the same specs.  I have several timex watches and they have not failed in all the years I have owned them.  They all have marks of a watch being an EDC.

I have a couple of Pagani's and they are great for the money.  Some of the latest models are using NH34 but are identical to the previous models using an appalling Pearl GMT movement, so be careful when buying that you get the right one.

I have the Q Timex GMT Pepsi and it's very nice.  My only complain is the bezel is frictionless and a touch too easy to move, otherwise it's a lovely watch to wear.

I also liked the Batman but I've read that it's not for sale directly from Timex, only certain retailers.

If you sign up at the Timex site, you'll get a constant stream of offers for 20-30% off, which swayed my choice.

I don't live in the US and they, unfortunately, don't deliver to my place so that's not going to work sadly.

Just ordered it, I hope it's not what you're talking about. Can you show me what you mean with the Pearl GMT? I ordered the world timer.

I've seen a few dodgy reviews of this brand on youtube, so I would be careful. Haven't had one myself though so who knows!

I just bought the Q Timex GMT in the „Pepsi“ variant and I totally love it. I bought it for the retail price of 219€ but it shouldn’t be more expensive than that in my opinion. It wears much more comfortable than I expected.

I wouldn’t buy Timex at retail, every other week it’s anything between 10-50% certain models on their website. The pricing is so random that you so question the true value of the watch, and your enjoyment of the watch will vary at different points of entry.

·

Those Timex look really good in person, get it when it goes on sale.

·

I love the Qs, but didn't get the GMT and don't plan to because I reached my limit.  As others have said, there are others out there that might be a bit cheaper and maybe a better movement, but don't forget Timex goes back to 1854 and to me that makes it more appealing.

Assuming you mean mechanical, the new Seiko GMT movement is caller GMT, not traveler. "Cheap" Swatch Group GMT watches use ETA movements, which are also caller GMT, and cost closer to $1000 than $260. The only travelers GMT ETA movement I know of is exclusive to Longines in the Zulu Time, which costs several thousand. The one watch I know of that uses the new Miyota travelers GMT costs $1000. Traveler GMT watches may have gotten cheaper thanks to Longines and Miyota, but they're not "cheap" if by that you mean the low hundreds of the Seikos.

There are cheaper ETA true GMTs out there…the Mido Ocean Star GMT, Certina DS Action GMT and the Tissot Chemin des Tourelles GMT come to mind.

We shall see. Just to get a sense of the relative cost of things, I tried to find prices for the GMT movements. I found the Seiko retail for $95, the ETA for $350. The Sellita ETA equivalent is about the same price. Manufacturers presumably pay less buying in bulk. I couldn’t find any price for the Miyota. I wonder, does it cost more or less than the ETA? Microbrand GMTs that use the Sellita I’ve seen sell for the high hundreds and up.

I have a traveler and a caller GMT. I‘m more a caller than a traveler. I track California and Germany, and sometimes other places, so a caller GMT is handy. Though truth be told, I don’t have any real need for a GMT. It’s an expensive toy, just like watches in general. When traveling, the most useful thing is the quick set hour hand, more than the GMT hand.

Ha! In addition to the Q GMT, I also own a PD World Time with the TMI NH34 movement so I comment of both these watches.

I managed to buy the #paganidesign shipped via #aliexpress for about $150 CAD. While the case and movement are nice, the bracelet is garbage. It's a decent watch, but the finishing and quality are not as good as found on the Timex. For the money it's decent, but it's not worth any more than what I paid for it.

Check my other comment for my thoughts about the #timex Q GMT.

Now I kinda wish I got the blue one lol, so what your saying is that it did blow you away in terms of value for money?

·

That must be annoying, but at least you can get your hands on one.

At the end of the day, buy the watch that pulls your heartstrings the most. This will be the right decision.

Watches are very subjective. What works for one person, might not work for someone else.

And I believe thats the beauty of watch collecting.

Its a selling point for me honestly

The Pagani Design is good value for the money. The bracelet holds it back.

I saw an Invicta for less than $100 just like this one, almost bought it on a lark with the idea of wearing on a visit to my AD as a joke. Decided against that. I’m waiting on the real thing and am sure I will get one (eventually) from my AD. 😁

But it is a pretty watch.

On second thought, Rolex GMT Master II...often imitated, never duplicated! 😋
