Watches stolen by DHL

Recently, I made a trade with a fellow WIS. Shipped two watches - a 1948 Eterna bumper auto and a ca.1976 Certina Club 2000 to Germany from Poland, via DHL.

Unfortunately, when the parcel has arrived, it turned out that it has been robbed on its way. It was clearly cut open, and both watches were gone. The cut was "patched up" with some white sticker.

Now, it turns out that unless you've got a document like a bill of sale, the insurance option is a worthless liability that you pay for when sending, but does you no good when something like this happens.

Here are the watches

If you see these show up for sale anywhere or if they're offered to you, remember that the seller of these two pieces is NOT their rightful owner. As much as neither I nor my friend to whom these were going will likely see them again, there's nothing anyone can do. So if you see them up for sale or offered to you, please do me a favour and plaster that bastard - who either stole the watches or bought them from the thief/thieves - as a bloody fence, scumbag, grifter and son of a cheap alley ****e everywhere you can. Thank you in advance.

If they ever are listed for sale the only way you can prove they are the stolen watches is if you have the serial numbers and can match them.

Hate to hear it. Few things piss me off more than a thief.

Oh my god... Didn't Fedex "lose" Max's Tudor before? Sorry to hear, I really hope justice is served.

My friend - with whom I made a barter and to whom these watches were going, in exchange for a nice vintage Omega - is at a loss here. She already had my watch shipped, so I offered to pay her the worth of the Omega or to send another watch. Bottom line, I can't have a WIS friend at a loss. It was much more serious a blow to my friend that it was to me. I tend to worry about and dwell on such matters far too much.

This is so lame. A total ripoff for everyone involved.

Reminds me not to use DHL, too. It's not the first time I've heard of troubles involving shipments with that carrier. bloke, you, of all people, deserve so much better.

Relatable story, I have had couple of items shamelessly stolen from the package during transportation (straps, a watch, a laptop to mention those three)

Not to mention how delivery guys never follow instructions and either hand the parcel to anyone at the same address or not deliver it, pretending no one answered a call they never placed

I am amazed by the development of on line luxury watch purchase over the past three years, with premium brands also now selling on line.

I will never buy a €5k + watch on line and hope that some DHL/FEDEX dude will bring it to me. It is 100 % brick and mortar for me
