Beef between Britt Pearce & Oisin O'Malley

A lot of beef between Britt Pearce and Oisin O'Malley at the moment, I thought they used to be friends?

In Oisin's latest video he specifically calls out Britt's gender and religion in a derogatory way. I think this a step too far though...and should be called out by our watch community. What a shame.

He comes across as a tw@t... He always has some drama surrounding him. I watched maybe three of his videos before I got tired of him.

·

Can I get a link and time stamp on that last claim? After reviewing that, I will pick a side. Normally I'd go team male, but religion is important too.

Included in the description for you. I don't think it's about male vs female, religion or anything else. And it's only watches, highly subjective...to come after someone in this way? I don't know, just seems way over the top to me

The whole second half of the video is him going after her and his apology is for recommending Britt. It’s pretty poor taste regardless of who is right or wrong.

Now it’s quite possible that Britt did him dirty (don’t know as he is the only one speaking on the matter), but it says a lot about a person’s character if they handle disputes privately vs if they make unrelated attacks on the person publicly.

Oisin O'Malley has always reminded me of a floor trader I used to know.  He was mostly pleasant (liked talking watches, good golf game) but the moment you disagreed with him he'd dredge up the nastiest comments: racist, sexist, you name it.  I eventually figured out he was a just two faced bully and we moved our equity trading volume off him because he ruined the flow of our team.

I need fewer of those types of folks in my life.  They just suck up energy.

There is one mantra that served me well over the later part of my life. I wish I had learned it earlier.....

Don't get sucked into other people's drama.

Here endeth the lesson.

·

What the hell? This is just juvenile. Ugh.

So you don't agree with her views. Just say you had a disagreement with her views and move on. God, what a douchebag.

Thanks for showing me this, @Mike_Russell. I know who to avoid now. By this I mean both parties. One's juvenile and the other is a thief, it seems. What a pity.

I have no idea who are these people and have no interest in getting informed about them after I read the original post. If an opinion is required then mine is: Who care??!!

·

I’ve found Britt Pearce to be grating and passive-aggressively pretentious since the very first video I saw of hers about a year ago, and that hasn’t changed. I do not understand the appeal.

On the other hand, I don’t really care for this fella’s video either, and all of it feels like drama for drama’s sake. I’ma just let them fight it out and stay far away from both channels. Airing your dirty laundry in public makes the whole neighborhood stink.

Apparently his accusation that Britt gave the watch away is BS. She showed the watch in a short after he made the video. Apparently she is including it as part of a micro-brand video she is making. Oisin apparently gets payed by this micro-brand for the videos he puts together, where Britt doesn't. But I think that's all by the by. He just loves drama and this is a way of creating it and shining the spot light in him. He did the same recently with another YouTube watch personality, but I won't go into that lol

Same. The interesting thing is that it always felt and sounded like she was giving a sermon at church when talking in her videos. Just now I found out that she’s actually a pastor 😅

I think that's absolutely spot on...and also the tell tell signs of an out and out sociopath

I agree with that take completely. I quite like both of their channels until this. I just hope Britt doesn't bite and get dragged into it. Seems so dramatic, considering the circumstances...all it concerns is watches as assets and a loaned watch, seems silly.

·

Not familiar with either, and this first exposure is not making me want to know any more about either. 🤣

I agree with this actually 😂 even though I wrote the original post. The only reason I'm bringing this up is to call out someone in our watch community that is making derogatory and abusive remarks about someone's gender and religious beliefs. I think that's wrong.

·

I don't follow YouTube watch channels that traffic in negativity and drama. I watch for upbeat entertainment and/or information. When a YouTuber starts trashing another content creator that's when I unsub and move on.

·
Rolexahoma

Oisin's channel wasn't on Watchfinder's Top 25 watch channels to follow.

I stand corrected! I went back and watched too and to my discredit I misremembered since I watched both back to back on Sunday while cooking for the family. Let it not be said I pass disinfo. Obliged to you.

I'm team osin

I do watch much of the yt watch community

First watched timeless when he was looking for a place in venice in height of covid...amazing video

I used to follow Osin but his drama with Nico just became too much drivel for me. His explanations on his videos of the case and his live appearances on Tim Write regarding the case became a hard follow. But I don’t have Rolex money so 🤷🏻‍♂️

She's right though 😅 the Rolex market is sliding and continues to slide. Milgaus, Explorer 1 and OPs all available under retail on the secondhand market. Oisin likes to tell his viewers otherwise and that the general downturn in the global economy isn't happening for some reason...maybe because he has sunk a considerable amount of money into watches as an investment. Not that I have a problem with watches as investments, but you still need to be honest with people about there vulnerability as an asset class.

Interesting you say that you are"team Oisin", each to their own I guess. But I won't support anyone who is sexist and nasty about someone's chosen vocation or religion, no matter how pretty the backdrop. I'm surprised anyone could come out in defense of him really, he is just down right nasty sometimes. It's a shame really.

osin's ...abrassive. To be sure. I've had him on in the background and a good few times had to shut him off thinking stfu.

Overall though I like his stuff

Brit was fine to me..boring but fine

just don't speak of economics.....it really bugs me when people that shouldn't do so

That turned me off

Rolex are now selling authorized secondhand 🤗. This should shake things up a bit and hopefully we'll below retail!!

I like your optimism, but I wouldn't hold your breath on the whole 'well below retail'.  Why would Rolex leave money on the table?

They all ready do (leave money on the table). Rolex could double the price of some of their watches, based on what people are paying on the grey market. But they choose not to. Rolex is also a not-for-profit charity/foundation, so it wouldn't surprise me if they wanted to reshape the landscape somewhat.

Also, currently they don't make any money from the secondhand market. If Rolex offered secondhand watches at less than retail, they would own the market more or less overnight. That's a huge chunk of change and puts them back in control of their product/brand.

My opinion of course.... hugely positive and speculative 😂. And if there is one thing we know about Rolex, they rarely do what anyone predicts. We shall see. There will probably a wait list for official secondhand Rolex now 😂

Totally agree mate. I started of liking him but he's got a massive ego and the whole Britt thing confirmed him as a complete tool in my book. His band was rubbish anyway and I'd certainly never heard of them before he appeared.

·

I love that she more or less dunked on him in her most recent video, completely unwinding his argument and showing the watch he accused her of selling. And this folks is why one should not surround themselves with people who actively seek drama.

She’s not a vicar as Oisin points out… she’s a youth pastor.

Which boggles my mind a little, but then not at the same time.

Her channel has turned from openly drunken, largely incoherent, valley-girl ramblings on watches that her husband bought for her, to well produced, moronic and incoherent ramblings on watches and the watch market to drive herchannel growth and income generation. All pretty bleurgh to be Frank.

This is the worst part of Oisin coming out. At his best he’s an artistic, deep, creative force with a great eye for storytelling and a real passion for collecting. Some of his longform travel / documentary style vids are absolutely stupendous (sienna, dambusters, interstellar etc)

That said he’s an opinionated and wounded guy too, who can’t help but get into drama (there was a kick off with Nico a few months back) and he leaks a lot of hurt through his channel and livestreams.

As others have said… try to stay out of other peoples drama.

Spot on. His travelogue work is soooo beautiful and reflective and insightful. Capable of bringing a tear, or causing the need to pause for reflection. On the flipside of the tender and artful sensibility is the lashing-out of a vulnerable person proactively trying to avoid being hurt again. I think "he's a bully" is an oversimplification, though it may have that effect.

FWIW, I enjoy both of their channels for who they are as presenters, good/bad/otherwise.

p.s. Hello, all. New here. Look forward to engaging with y'all.
