I've owned the 38 and even though it was a great value, the proportions didn't fit quite right. Took a chance on the new 40mm moon phase and it kicks butt ๐.
Hey I sold one last weekend, so... Still too many ๐
Ha! Iโm still on the fence about the bulova you reviewed last week the lunar one in blue dialโฆletโs say if you have an option regardless of price would you go Omega speedy Hesalite or bulova lunar ? I know itโs a stupid question but hey im stuck at home with rowdy kids and it snowing so ๐

Oh speedy for sure imo, Bulova only makes sense if you are on are targeting that budget.

Straight up between the Speedy Pri and the Lunar Pilot, definitely the Speedy Pro. I did sell my speedy pro, however, to buy me a Grand Seiko Snowflake and a Lunar Pilot, and I am very happy about that. Although, I do find myself longingly staring at every used Speedy Pro on the market. ๐
All that to say, you cannot remove the price from the equation.
Thanks for a great review. I briefly owned a Sea-Gull a few years ago and it was a nice watch with the same movement as the 1963. I bought it mainly because I wanted a watch with a column wheel movement, which was another lesson it watch buying, never buy a watch solely for the movement. I sold it to make room for a much better, and commensurately more expensive, piece. I never really liked the 1963 and until I saw this video, never really knew why. The 40mm version is much, much better looking and doesn't look as cheap. Still not to my taste these days, but it looks like it should cost double the quoted rate. Definitely a big improvement. It looks great on your wrist!
I really like my 40mm Seagull 1963 - especially because it's proud to be a Chinese watch. WC and other watch forums always talk about the issues with the fakes and the clomages (spelling?) being made in China, so to see a watch so brazenly proud to be made in China is great, and I'm not even Chinese.

Haha!! I was thinking the same ! I was ok since I passed on the speedy Iโll get a GS Gmt and a bulova to satisfy but like you after a day Iโll be salivating all over the Speedy pro again hahaha!!
Great Video! Love both.

Yeah...I did this thing instead of the Moonswatch, and saved myself $80 in the process:

beautiful movement with adfordable price ๐
Yo, man, when you gonna do another SOTC video? It's 2023 now, and inquiring minds want to know!

If I did one now, it'd be 3 hours long ๐คฃ. Trying to split it into smaller videos.
