WHAT IS THE RAREST WATCH EVER?

Curious of WC’s thoughts….

·

Patek Philippe 3974?

Im excluding the one-off, specifically commissioned pieces (I know Rolex, and more recently RM have a few of these).

·

Rare and valuable are not always correlated. I own many rare watches and no valuable ones. Anyone who buys a 1/100 microbrand release has bought something more rare than modern Patek Philippe.

Yeah, not really thinking about value, more rarity….👍

There are literally tens of thousands of one off watches. Some by major brands, some by master ateliers, others by JobBob in his shed. Some are worth .01, others are made for Royalty and worth tens of millions. The entire premise of Only Watch every year is to auction off a single watch a brand produces. If you have enough money, you laugh at the pleebs spending $650k on a Tudor, because you go to the brand directly to make your own one off. There are watch collections out there that we could not imagine as they never make it to a publication.

The Breguet No. 160 "The Grand Complication," more commonly known as the Marie-Antoinette or the Queen, is a case watch designed by Swiss watchmaker Abraham-Louis Breguet, and was his 160th watch.

This Berny super compressor is also a one of a kind exclusive piece.

The rarest watch ever is a Rolex that you can actually buy when you walk into an AD. 😂
