From Russia with hardly any love.

I bought this a while ago, mainly because I like the weird, wonderful and alternative.

I am also deeply into cars/trucks/racing etc and the idea of a driving watch with 12 at 2 fascinated me! I cannot afford a Vacheron Constantin.. so that led me to this Vostok.

As a watch, it’s odd and has an offset dial. Ticked my requirements for very little money, however I really really HATE wearing it!

Sure it’s comfortable and a nice size and it doesn’t even look bad! It keeps relatively okay time and it does allow 12 to remain upright whilst driving (assuming your in the one position forever) but for every other time, it’s nearly impossible to tell the time without making an awkward pose or gawp.

I don’t plan on wearing it again, should I sell? Or keep it because i can say I have an offset dial watch that isn’t because it’s broken…

I only keep watches that I will wear.  When one does not meet my minimal standards it has to go.

There are a million Vostoks, most of which are reasonably priced. Sell this one and get one you’ll like. It’ll be just as weird, but multiples more wonderful.

I only have one Vostok so far, but almost feel like I should plan for two separate collections: My watches, and my Vostoks.

Thank you for stating this. I'd think it would be obvious, but some people seem to ignore this fact.

When novelties grow old, it's time to pass them onto someone for whom they are new.

In that case maybe I should sell… I will have to list the 10 or 15 watches in my collection that I never wear or only wear once a year 😂

I bought it knowing it would be a novelty. I just expected it to be a ‘wow this is cool’ one… Rather than a “well, this isn’t much fun“

I like the weirdness of the concept and I have a Seiko that explores it to a lesser degree. I love that thing!

But I don’t have any affinity for Vostok as a brand.

Ultimately if it doesn’t do anything for you pass it along 😁

Let it grow on you.

So are you saying that if you were able to have the below in your collection for a 1/4 of the price you would say no?

It's like a Dali dream watch lol

Can't hurt to keep it a while, I mean you only wore it once.  It takes a while for the brain to sort out strange things; it may be easier to read the more you wear it.

My grail watch!

I assumed from the photo tag opening the thread that ir was the Vacheron Constantin Historique Soviet 1921. I looked into it, and my VC AD said he didn’t have any, but he did put me down on the wait list.

What's the name of this particular model? Is it part of the Kirova collection?
