What is your 'Long Honeymoon' watch? For me, it's the Speedy..

The Speedmaster Professional was THE watch.  For years I read every article, watched every YouTube video, and pined for this watch.  Advance the clock to 2020, and my little guy was born.  To celebrate this milestone, I purchased my very own Speedy from a Boutique...with the idea that when he's old enough, I'll slip it off my wrist and give it to him.  So in a sense, I'm simply a Speedy caretaker for the next two decades.

But until then, I'm enjoying it.  Not just enjoying it, but LOVING it.  Here we are, almost two years later, and I'm still giddy every time I wear it.  There are other great pieces in my collection, and they all get wrist time...but the Speedy carries with it a special joy when I wear it.

Yep, still on my honeymoon with this watch, and I don't think it will end anytime soon.

What watch in your collection do you connect with so well that even years after purchase, you are still as excited to wear it as that first day?  Let's see those pictures!!

Cheers!

It's got to be my Tudor BB58. I resisted the hype. I tried to talk myself out of it so many times. But now after 2 years of ownership, it has an almost unassailable place in my collection. I own more accurate watches. I own higher horology watches. I own watches with more useful complications. But to me this is more than the sum of its parts.

I bought the Speedy in 2019 for my 40th BD. Still my favorit, always a pleasure and a wonder to wear it.
And it is the best straps monster!

11 years. Still one of the coolest watches I’ve ever seen, held and worn. Silky smooth action, but this is what you would expect from a late 60s mechanical Omega. I have a genuine Omega leather which came with, but this sporty orange one just makes it much more versatile to wear, but it is a strap monster for sure.

What a gorgeous watch. It looks so tough you could probably take it to the moon. Wait a minute...

·

Speedy Pro for sure, also my Oris 65.

It's up there for me too - it's a shame they've jumped in price so much.

Such a great watch. I have an 875 UTC not as clean as this piece.  My grail is the 836

I would love a 556 ,if the finance's allow.

Sapphire  sandwich or hesalite. Looks like hesalite to me from the pic.

I love my speedy, and I love the way its bracelet looks, but by swapping it to an uncleseiko president style I made it way more comfortable to wear. Now I feel I have a daily driver!

Mine is also the speedy, ironically it started with the sea master. This of course was because Pierce Brosnan wore one as James Bond and I thought it was the coolest thing in the world. At that point I’ve never seen a speedy and didn’t for many more years. Once I saw on there was no going back. When I went to buy my speedy I actually tried on a Seamaster to say that I did. It’s a beautiful lunch and honestly probably a little better suited for me as an every day wearer. However, for me the speedy just looked at home on my wrist.

For me it’s also my speedy pro from 2020. when I started looking at, and appreciating watches the speedy really caught my eye. 2 years later I finally bought mine for my graduation and I’m still loving it now :)
