What was your first grail watch?

I know many see grail watches as these expensive, inattainable, sometimes irresponsible and likely life fulfilling purchases that are in the future if that maybe ๐Ÿ˜…. But if we're being honest with ourselves, we probably all had an original grail watch, either right when we got into collecting or maybe even before. For me it was the SKX ๐Ÿ˜Ž. I got back into wearing and collecting watches less than a decade ago and was strictly a Casio collector, spending anywhere from $20-$100 on most of my watches. By the time I got into mechanicals the SKX was discontinued and going for over $500 in the used market. I did a lot of research and couldn't stop romanticizing over having a Pepsi SKX. After a few months of searching low and high in the deep dark web, as well as convincing my wife that a $300-$500 watch was a good purchase ๐Ÿคฃ, I found a good deal from a reputable seller. Funny enough my wife ended up buying it for me (for a lot less than $500 too ๐Ÿ˜). I love it till this day and don't plan on ever getting rid of it, especially because it's so easy to work on. Yes, I do have a new grail ๐Ÿ˜…, don't we all? If your being honest with yourself, what was your first grail watch?

Indeed there are many stages where I have considered some watches as grail pieces others as pure experience and just for fun pieces. I guess a Tissot Couturier in quartz was my first Swiss Made grail. The Longines Hydroconquest was my first automatic Swiss grail. Followed couple of years ago by my personal Omega trilogy consists of the Aqua Terra 38.5/ Speedmaster Reduced 38 and the James Bond SMP. Having experienced this brand as well, my next grail watch was the OP39 and DJ36. Now I have both and I can not really tell what the next grail will be. Now it is time for another experience watch with the newly released Longines Conquest 38 in champagne dial.

I had this love for a vintage Carrera but, knowing it's well out of my price range I put it aside. Until I saw Timex come out with the Marlin. Just as I was about to pull the trigger on Timex website it was out of stock. I saw them on eBay for over $500 at one point. So I waited and waited . 3 months passed and finally came back but, with the leather band. I pulled the trigger. If that is what it's like waiting for a Grail it can test your patience.. the funny thing is after I bought it a week later the bracelet version came back lol
