The Doxa 300 T ! The Best Orange Watch?

To me this would be the only watch I’d ever get with an Orange dial! The brand that first used this colour, the best colour seen under water apparently!!?;) now I can think of the the Seiko 2nd gen Monster with an orange dial but can you think of anymore? Do you own one? Think there was an SKX orange dial to???

I'd love to have one eventually, its a cracking watch

If nemo was a watch, this would be it. Definitely awesome and glad they helped popularise orange 🧡

·

Love a good orange dial diver and that Doxa is definitely the standard-bearer. On the more affordable end, I have a Seaborne Sea Venture and am a big fan.

The visibility of the colour orange under water is marketing BS. Orange, in perfect conditions, disappears at less than 20m. Thing is, there's hardly such a thing as perfectly clear water. Typically it disappears...at over 5m. If we're talking of deep scuba diving, without a lamp an orange dial will do no good. Doxa knows that full well and have been banning everyone at WUS (sponsored by them) for questioning their claims.

One of my best vintage pieces is a Doxa milwatch from WW2, issued to the Luftwaffe. Modern Doxas I wouldn't touch with a barge pole.

Yep. @OP, loads of information about the orange dial visibility scam at Watch Lords. Also Doxa's shady practices more generally - long time collectors and enthisiasts impart so much knowledge about watches. Hint: if you want an orange watch, stick with that Monster or a Breitling.

Reminds me of the patterns of a tropical fish!  Regardless of how useful it actually is, I don't dive and I highly doubt most people who buy dive watches do. So yes, very cool looking watch and they deserve the badge of the OG orange dial 😍

On the principle of not looking a gift horse in the mouth. Bottom line, what matters to me is the gesture, not the item. Save perhaps if I'd be bald and someone'd give me a haircomb.

But buy a modern Doxa...nope. I wouldn't. I could be all about its looks, it could offer better specs than a similarly priced alternative. Still would buy another watch, or just not buy anything at all.

If you were given a Doxa as a gift, wear it. What matters is the gesture and good intentions of the giver. The item, be it a watch or anything else, is of little importance, if of any at all.

·

Wow...wasn't expecting the Doxa bashing. I was unaware Doxa had such a negative perception in some corners of the watch world. Given the changes in ownership of Doxa over the years, it's hard to generalize "Doxa" as being shady; do you mean the current ownership @jason_recliner?

Most claims made by watch brands should be taken with a large grain of salt as much of it is just marketing BS. I mean, they are selling a product after all.

Too much to go in to here.  It's all documented at Watch Lords if you're interested.

The longer this watch is with me the better it is to me my friend. It’s build quality is on the levels of top Swiss made watches, I have 2 here currently, QC is perfect here to me. The 300 Sub is an icon in our niche like it or not.
from what I have in front of me , buy a Doxa and be absolutely confident in the fact you are getting a damn good watch. That’s my opinion, yours is yours bud

I think if we were to delve into the actually construction and manufacturing of our favourite brand we may find out that they all take advantage of the 60% Swiss Made certification. I don’t have a problem with it personally;)

I didn't realise you'd already bought it, the way you worded your OP made me think you were considering it - I wouldn't have suggested get another watch otherwise!  They're good watches, but some of us have been reading about their practices for a decade or more and it's tainted our views.  But yeah they are good watches, they won't leak, all that matters is you like it. Congrats on your new watch!

·

If you get a Doxa it has to be orange. That’s what they’re known for. Love it 🧡

·

As I prefer dressier watch, Im still lusting after the orange club from Nomos🥵😂

I like the 600T much better. The dial looks larger than on the 300T even though the case is smaller.

A monster was mentioned, so a monster must appear:
