Are Hamilton Smashing It Right Now?

New show up on my YT channel! I honestly think everyone should own a modern day Hamilton watch because that should become the bench mark for you whenever buying a watch.
I have NEVER been unimpressed or let down by this companies product me and I think they are HUGE players in the watch market !! Thoughts?

My Hamilton Navy Pioneer says "Hi."

100% agree @MWC2020, Hamiltons provide great value and their watch designs draw from a deep catalogue of mid-century watches back when they were still an American company based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  They're on my short list when people ask me to recommend a great watch.

As a fan of tool watches, I bought the Khaki Navy Pioneer as my dress watch. (Yeah, I know, it's not technically a dress watch.)  It commemorates the marine chronometers that Hamilton made for the US Navy back in WWII so it has a tool watch heritage despite looking dressy.  That said, the watch would probably fit right in with a seersucker suit and boat hat as much as it would with a business suit and tie. :)

I also think wire lugs make the watch very distinctive.  They harken back to the time when military officers used to weld wires to their pocket watches so they could strap it onto their wrists.  (Don't worry, despite appearances this version takes standard spring bars).

Great video bro. And yeah I definitely agree they are. One of my top brands without a doubt 🤟🏻Image

I enjoyed your review of this piece. The Khaki Pioneer is a great looking watch and just the right size for my wrist. I love the vintage look, brushed steel case and cathedral hands. That 50-click bezel is definitely kind of weird. Even for a pilot watch, wouldn't you want it to line up to the 60 minute markers? Am I missing something there?

I've never owned a Hamilton..

And in pocket watches since way before 1928, such as this sample from 1901.

Certainly a brand with a lot of history.

I've only got one Hamilton wrist watch, a 46mm khaki pilot. Winding action leaves a bit to be desired, but otherwise an awesome watch.

I'm in the minority, they feel like a Honda to me.  None have ever blown me away.

·

One beef I have with them is using the "Mechanical" moniker for pieces with hand-wound movements. As if "mechanical" meant hand-wound, which isn't the case, since "mechanical" applies to hand-wound and automatic movements alike. The "Mechanical" moniker ruined a number of their watches for me, although fortunately they had the good sense to not put it on the dial of the Khaki Field hand-cranker. Which I am tempted to get at some point, no other watch oozes "Fortunate Son" like that Hammy does.

You wouldn’t regret buying one. There’s two brands I have a severe addiction to collecting: Casio & Hamilton. I think every collection needs at least one of each!

You have a seriously impressive collection.

Hamilton has definitely been killing it.  I picked up a Pilot Pioneer Khaki Mechanical (or some variation of those words) and I absolutely love it.  I've been throwing it on a wack of 18mm straps and its been one of my favorites to wear to work.

lol....seeeee...you said you "like" hondas.  Not love..

·

Two issues with Hamilton.

Case width routinely too large

Complete lack of AR coating on most every model.

Have owned several that I really did love, but for one or both of those reasons, they are all long gone.

Haha... fair enough.

Are Hondas an object of lust?  Probably not.  But when get in mine do I feel a great sense of satisfaction that I own a well made, good looking and reliable piece of kit?  Yes, I do.  :)

Awesome to see you here mate. Just followed.

·

I have considered for some time now to buy my first Hamilton. And I have seen a lot of good reviews, so I am probably gonna get one soon in the khaki collection.

·

I have always loved the look of Hamiltons, the khaki field is such a classic! This new offering is perfect (minus the not so great bezel action) My concern is with the new H-series movement which are being used in place of the ETA. My understanding is that these movements are actually much more accurate! especially with the free sprung balance. however, they are not as serviceable as they are somewhat proprietary to the swatch group. serviceability and availability of parts (ie: not being a slave to the swatch group for servicing) is a big factor for me. please correct me if I am wrong. Otherwise, i've only heard very good things about how the H movements actually run and keep time. Serviceability questions keep me from purchasing a new Hammy

Had the Khaki field for a while (38mm). Lovely watch but the mad amount of reflection off the crystal bugged me too much. And a field watch with a polished bezel also started to give me doubts. If they sorted those things out I'd defo be in the market for another.
