This is just my two cents, but they are asking an awful lot of money for a quartz movement, even if it is a Swiss Ronda quartz. You could easily get a Longines Hydroconquest automatic for that money. I have looked at them in the past at the behest of my wife, and I was not really impressed. They have always struck me as a higher priced fashion watch, albeit much better in quality than Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger, etc., but not like Cartier, and certainly not worth the price they are asking.
While I don’t think my opinion matters all that much I am happy to share. I am sure it’s a fine watch technically speaking with a better (if leather) band than most it’s counter parts. Is it an example of fine watchmaking from a horological standpoint… probably not. That said, I don’t think Gucci is claiming to be so.
I think people will label them with the moniker of a “fashion watch“ which I can understand but I do think there is something that separates these pieces from say Fossil. Gucci is a luxury brand and by definition the products they sell are luxury goods. When you buy this watch, you’re paying for the name on the dial - to me it’s no different then when someone is paying 3x over retail for a Rolex that has about the same watchmaking pedigree is an Omega. Shoot, I‘d be curious what would happen if Rolex would start selling anything else… like a watch roll. I bet they could sell a watch roll that would be equally as well made as a Wolf but I‘d imagine would sell for 4x the price because of the crown. Oh well, all this is all to say, just understand you’re buying into first and make a decision that makes you happy. Good luck! 🍻
The lug design looks clever, but isn't. I have owned two. One was stolen within weeks. One had its crystal shatter in a fall before I even had to change a battery.
I have purchased a Gucci automatic watch this year at a great price at a local discount store. Powered by an ETA automatic movement, a beautiful dial, and very nice leather strap. Now I would never purchase it at the inflated retail price but at the price of a nice Seiko 5 I have no issues.

Here's my little 2 cents. I do not consider Gucci a high end watch simply because Gucci doesn't make watches. They don't make any components of the watch. It is completely a license deal. Another company makes the watch and then they slap the Gucci name on it.

No matter how many times Gucci calls them "Luxury design watches" they are just fashion watches.

Hermes and Louis Vuitton > Gucci

$30 fashion watches. You are paying for the name, not the watch.

They are unmourned.
