What’s Your Grail Watch?

What’s your grail watch?

Do you own it? If so is it all you expected?

I have three and missed a cheap one...

My daily titanium, is also the most delicious titanium watch I ever seen and by that a true Grail... Then is this masterpiece also impossible to find, even used, anywhere anymore...

Then is my second Grail, the first high class Ocenus Casio ever made... It was sold as the top Ocenus model 1992 but it was not written on the dial or the back - just 200m and Alarm Chronograph... And it still look as new, except micro steel scratces (which I not polish away) even if it is a 31 years old vintage watch!

Then was my third Grail a truly rare Casio Oceanus (now written) Alti-Depth meter Alarm Chronograf, with even more functions and a smooth Ebel style case... And it still look as new, except micro steel scratces (which I not polish away) even if it is a 30 years old vintage watch!

Yes... Casio did only relese a few of these, just before they stop producing any high end stainless watches 1993 and only made cheaper watches for at least 8 to 10 years... And when they suddenly did return, was the high end watches clearly less elegant and anyhow from 3 times more expansive... And those two magic Casio's is even more impossible to find, anywhere...

And the ultra elegant Grail (or delicious dream) watch, that only did cost like 65 euro and I miss 1993 because I thought I could buy it even cheaper on Canaria - but it was too rare for that and gone forever, when I came back!!

Great collection. Love the titanium one!

So this week my grail watch arrived. An aquanaut in steel. I simply can’t think of anything I would want more for daily use.

Yes it meets my expectations in the sense of a dreamy dial, cool iconic bezel, thin, wonderful movement to look at - which works well. The rubber strap and clasp are super comfortable. - so yes - a wonderful thing!

It’s kind of ruined me for grails though. I can only really think of three things on the next level. Rainbow Daytona, Cartier Crash and Cartier Tank Cintree. The first two are impossible - but maybe I could get a cintree one day.

Something on an equal level I may one day have is a steel Royal Oak. I’m waiting for one but expect it to be a long wait.

I dont have "Grail" watch any longer. Everytime I do I end up buying it LOL My 40mm Gold Rolex President is a more recent one , someone offered insane money for my AP so I sold it. I am trying to keep the collection around twenty pieces but i do trade up and down often.

Very classy!

Thank you. These are fantastic piece's and will probably remain a Grail for a long time before I could ever manage to own either one.

But I can dream.

The YM 40 was, cough, ahem, is my grail. It ticked the boxes for me which was a bi-directional bezel, blue dial, phenomenal bracelet with on the fly adjustments. Since getting this back in 2020, I’ve only added a Cartier Santos Medium, and nothing in my small collection is close price wise to the grail. My only complaint is the name. I really dislike the term Yacht-Master.

Sweet watch. Fits you perfectly!

For me it‘s a Patrizzi Daytona 16520. I just love the aged look and the simplicity.

A. Lange & Sohne. I define a grail watch as so expensive, but even if I had the money to buy, I wouldn't. Because I could never wear it on the daily. So one of their watches would be such a grail for me.
