Far too much time devoted to discussing the brand. Good watches especially the vintage but overpriced and often bought for the wrong reasons. AD service laughable.
But hey, if you love them, more power to your elbow.
I love the concept behind Rolex watches. Attention to quality, even in the most minute details. Alas, I can't afford even their base models, so I will never have the pleasure of owning one. And the upside to that is the knowledge that I will never have to deal with the dreaded waiting list, nor with pushy ADs. It is what it is. As far as the watches themselves go, I think they're exquisite. And I am happy for anyone who has the means to obtain one. Cheers! 🍻

My thoughts on Rolex are way too complex for the scope of this survey. On one hand the quality and design of the brand is undeniable. I do detest the tactics of their AD's who are famous for mandating a buyer purchase other watches and be a "good customer" before being rewarded with the opportunity to be put on a waitlist for a desired model.
Another musing that I heard a watch collector make that lands as true to me is that 90% of Rolex owners can only tell you 2 things about their watch. How much they payed for it and how much its worth. Most buy them as nothing more than a status symbol or a financial flex and tend to be insufferable people. I do not include those who truly love the brand. Unfortunately most of those collectors have a "It's complicated" relationship with the brand and its tactics and marketing also.
Furthermore, I cant afford one, so my opinion may be sour grapes!
I own a Rolex and had to put up with the long wait because I refuse to pay above MSRP. As I've said in the past before owning, I don't like that I have to beg them to take my money. Is putting up with the bullshit worth it? In my opinion, yes. It's the nicest / best executed watch I own, bar none. I also totally understand if someone never wanted to buy any of their watches.

Sorry, but this is such a stupid comment, there are millions and millions of Rolex owners on the planet but surely you and that psychic watch collector you heard happen to know 90% of all those millions of people and happen to know that most of them are all insufferable people and only own their Rolex as a status symbol......really...what a load of bollocks

I love rolex but really hate the game they play. They've pushed me towards other brands that are just as good if not better. I'm a little bitter with them lol.
Like most I am not a fan of the AD shinanigans but they are my favorite brand.
In the nicest possible way I don't care.

After some deliberation, my opinion is no opinion. I can't get my hands on one to have a solid opinion or to even compare to say a Longines at an AD.
All I have are stock images, youtube videos, horror stories, and a bubble.
You got the money go for it!
Cheers!

Love them but not worth the prices

Spot on!
I'd rank many others on the same scale as various Rolex models, yet more attainable 😂
I've said before, and I stick by it - "my Seadweller is the nicest $4k watch I've tried".
I probably won't buy another for a while, since I'm not interested in waiting or paying more than retail.
