JLC polaris mariner date blue

So I'm curious if this is one of those watches on a waitlist? I want to get one for my birthday, which is 10 months away, but I want to avoid the "show up and buy it but there's nothing there" situation. Is getting a jlc similar to something like a rolex where the aftermarket is the only way?

It's not really a wait list situation so much as most ADs don't really carry the Mariner line. They can almost certainly order one for you in a pretty reasonable time.

Or you can visit a JLC boutique like the ones on Bond Street in London or NYC and they probably have one in stock.

If you want certainty over ordering, there are plenty of attractively priced grey market models out there in new condition at a discount to market (but at the cost of lost warranties).

You could try buying it from their online boutique or call them and place the order on the phone... shipped to your door.

Great watch you decided on. As said by @Edge168n there shouldn’t be a waitlist. If the market in US is simular as Europe you should be able to get a discount from an AD. They should also be able to order the watch for you within 5-6 weeks if not in stock. If you want the watch on a bracelet there might be some longer wait. I had some problems getting my bracelet, but that was an aftermarket. If you buy from an AD you can register your watch online and get a 8 year warranty. So no waitlist. 10 month should be fine but start do some visits or contact with some AD. Also, if JLC is as agressive as 2022 also in 2023 with their price increases you can save some money by ordering your watch ASAP.

i appreciate it. I am heading to houston for a trip and was going to visit some ADs and the boutique. They don't have a JLC AD where i live, but i figured since i would be in town, i'd check out some stores. i'll ask them about discounts.

Don't hesitate to ring an AD to see if its in stock. It's worth a quick call to understand what's in the store.

JLC has changed their marketing strategy, they are now limiting their stock to be on boutique only and number of production is minimized too, so if it is not on stock in the boutique, be prepared to wait. This will have impact on grey market for JlC pieces that is harder to find, they seems holding value much better than before
