Good spot. SOLD

·

I used eBay - bar the Rollies which were part x

·

My collection is like Hotel California… watches check in, but they never leave. 😂

Good spot. SOLD

I sold an Omega SMP last October

Technically haven’t bought any watches since (did buy two watches to give as presents) and received two (different!) watches as presents (karma is great!).

Closing time…you don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here.

·

That's more of a ledger than a journey.

·

My last 12 months:

Resurrected and serviced my January 1967 Seiko Sportsmatic 5

Citizen EcoDrive tool watch - gift

Vostok Amphibian - bought

Seiko Actus - bought

Stuhrling Meridian - bought

Seiko 5 Sports 'Cement' face - bought.

·

I do the best/ worst of both worlds. I never sell any watch that crosses my door. When I feel the need to cull the herd, I give them as gifts to people in my life. Usually family but also close friends. It is selfish in a way, I get to see my darlings on the wrists of the people I care about...which makes me happy.

·

Sold 6 watches, bought 8. I don't think my collection can no longer hit below 20 watches unless I have some kind of revelation or something

·

Good Lawd I wouldn’t know where to start!

·

During the last 12 months? Lets see...

  1. June 2022: Yema Superman bronze.

  2. August 2022: Nomos Ahoi siren red

  3. October 2022: Mathey-Tissot Type XX chronograph

  4. April 2023: SKXMOD Casio AE1200

  5. April 2023: Casio AQ-230

So 5 bought, 0 sold.

·

Mine?

PURCHASED x 55 😜

·

Damn that post stressed me out. I collect watches like I commute to work . . . Find the middle lane and stay there haha.

Okay, the JLC Master is def. fire . . . although I think I have my heart set on a geographic.

I must say I’m absolutely flabbergasted at some of the lists above.

Wow.

Yeah, for real. If you're under any illusion that Watch Crunch is populated by just average folks . . . this thread will break that haha. Some of y'all are rolling in money (or at the very least single haha).

·

This thread could be titled “Disposable Income Is Fun”.

Bought this watch and strap.... it's been almost past 12 months now 😂

I've used WatchExchange on reddit. No fees tho you do need to be careful. Stick to people with transaction history. Also, there are large facebook groups that do sales and trades.

I never used Reddit. How do I know if the person has a transaction history?

I would suggest reading their channel guide. But they have a bot that will tell you the transaction history of users. It's posted along with the sales notice.

What is your opinion of Seven Friday? I find them intriguing.

For SF were way too big and difficult to read. Def an acquired taste

·

Well that was fun. Thanks for your stories.

The past 12 months have been eventful for my watch collection.

I’ve yet to sell a watch but I gifted several to relatives: a G-Shock, a couple of Seiko 5s, an Orient Bambino, and some homage watches. Bought a Tissot Gentleman, blue dial, for SIL as a Christmas gift…gorgeous watch. If I didn’t have the PRX already I’d get one for myself.

Added several new pieces, most inexpensive, and one that cratered the watch budget for the foreseeable future!

Picked up a Seiko 5 SNXS79 from Amazon on a whim last summer. And won the movement lottery - it’s the most accurate Cal. 7S26 I’ve ever owned, running at +1.3 spd!

Next up was the Sinn 556i. Hands down the most legible watch I’ve ever worn!

In October I ordered the salmon dial Baltic MR01. A lot of firsts for my collection in that watch. First: Baltic; French brand; dress watch; salmon dial; micro rotor; Breguet numerals. Just got it a week ago, so technically the newest addition.

The Casio A168. Because why not, it’s a classic…and I’ve spent more on meals that I didn’t enjoy!

Two Christopher Wards:

First the white dial C63 Sealander GMT, which I returned for a refund since the GMT hand did not aligned properly. A shame really, such a gorgeous watch and I’d heard great things about CW quality. But my first go with CW was a bust. Luckily their return policy is legit.

Second, the C63 in 36mm, black dial. My first ever eBay auction win, just a week after returning the GMT. Even more so than the Sinn 556I, an attempt to scratch the Explorer itch. Great little watch too. Faith in CW restored, I’m now tempted to take another go at the white dial Sealander GMT!

At the start of the new year I replaced my perfectly fine 4 year old Casio GWM5610 (gifted it to my youngest) with the “new and improved” GWM5610U.

And finally, in January I put myself “on the list” for an Rolex Explorer Ref 124270. Did not expect much, but less than 4 months later I got “the call.” Still in the honeymoon phase!

So I’m done for the year at least. Need to replenish the watch fund and convince my wife that I don’t have more money than sense! In 2024 I’m hoping to add a Grand Seiko mechanical or auto to join the SBGA211 spring drive and SBGN003 quartz to complete a GS movement trifecta.

Nailed it 😂

While I’m deep in the hobby, I only buy once every year or two, and it has to be a very specific watch serving both a purpose, pulls at my emotional core, and commemorating a special occasion (trip, achievement, child, etc.) if it works out.

2022 was more straps, no watch purchases. 2023 I just picked up a Tudor FXD, and more straps. I doubt I’ll pick up another watch this year, so I’ll live vicariously through all of your purchases! Haha

Been into non-serious collecting (dabbling?) for the better part of 5 years now since I first bought an automatic Seiko turtle (since sold).

However, the last 12 months have been a bit of a fun ride.

Gifted: Squale Sub-39 SuperBlue (birthday present).

Looking to sell: Seiko 5 SRPJ11, Squale 1521 PVD, Tissot PRS516 Chrono.
