Sinn 556 Aquamarine

Hey, Nerds

I picked this 556 up from WatchBuys last year. I’d been thinking about getting the black 556i but when they released these, I decided my collection could use a little more splash. I went with the aquamarine because I like the color and it’s my daughter’s birthstone. When I first opened the box, the shade of blue appeared very light and almost washed out. Bummer. I was hoping it would be a little more vibrant than the renders on Sinn’s website. At the time, that’s all I had to go on. In actuality, though, the aquamarine changes wonderful shades throughout the day. Just depends on the lighting, like many other colored dials. It’s a great contrast to the rest of the watch’s overall toolish and sterility-brushed finish. While the clasp could use a little more refinement, I find that over all the H-Link wears very comfortably. I really dig this one. One of my wife’s favorites. I’d recommend the 556 to anyone looking for a great and solid all-arounder in the $1k-2k price range. Just a fine piece of German engineering.

Thanks for a minute of your time and I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Yes, I noticed that with my Sinn U1 blue. The dial changes a lot and is heavily affected by ambient light and the strap color it's on.

Be still my beating heart. That's beautiful and as a Sinner my self I have to say I'm very jealous, your lucky to have one of these.👍

I had the 556iRS and sold it at purchase price last year when they went out of production for a while. It was a beautiful watch with that inky black dial but if it was a 40 I would have kept it. Just too small looking for a pilot watch, but beautiful hands and dial. Love yours and it probably wears larger with that lighter color. Nice purchase! That H-link bracelet is super-comfy as well.

Long time admirer of Sinn watches here. Haven't gotten to try one on or own one yet, but I feel it coming this year for me. What I have had such a hard time with is where do I want to start? I feel like many of their models are appealing to me, but I always come back to the 556's. Love the Aquamarine dial here and thanks for the insight! Hopefully I'll be joining the Sinn crew with you later this year 🙂

If you haven't checked them out yet, I highly recommend looking into Damasko. They make the DS30, or DK30/32 which are similar to the 556i, but different enough to have their own distinct look.

it's an incredible looking watch...

Damasko's are sweet! Same department as Sinn where I haven't owned or tried one yet, but I love their designs and the techniques they use to avoid scratches/scuffs. Thanks for the recommendation!

For me the basic 556a is the most iconic Watch Sinn produce, even though it’s basic

That blue looks amazing 🤩

I’ve been looking at the 556a and RS for awhile and it’s surprising I don’t see the colored dials more often 🤷🏻‍♂️

I understand the classic black look but the colors look so good 🤔

I should’ve known. One of my orange dials does the same. The U1 is nice!

It could maybe be a little bigger but 38mm is a great size for me. Sometimes I forget I’m wearing it. Some of the reason being the H-Link. It really is comfy.

I also kept coming back to the 556. I plan on getting more but I decided the 556 would be the first. I hope you finally get one. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!

I agree either you that it’s the most iconic. I just had to many similar black dials when I picked this one up. It’s not as versatile but it’s also not one I wear every day.

I don’t know if Watchbuys has the 556a or RS in stock but you can have them notify you when they do restock. I think colors aren’t seen as much because they only did 400 of each color.

The black is classic but like I mentioned above, I have too many similar black dials and needed more splash.

Much appreciated! I’m trying to sell a really cool titanium SKX173 build I have right now with lots of nice parts and likely move to either a 556 or a Formex. Leaning toward the Sinn!
