I'm in watch heaven!

So I live 5 mins from one of America's most awesome, high profile malls... and i love it! Almost all major luxury watch brands are here. See if you can spot all the watch boutiques...

Wow, I can see spending a lot of time there.

·

Oh yeah - South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa - the mecca of watch boutiques!

Dinner at the Capital Grille for a nice bone-in filet and a nice leisurely stroll through all the watch boutiques in the mall.

Facts! 😎👍

·

Haha, yes, it is South Coast aplaza, in California (Orange County), Costa Mesa.

·

I’m envious. I don’t have any one of those closer than a 3 hour drive away.

·

Closest I come is Boca Town Center.  Mayors Jewelers has GS, Tudor, Rolex, Omega, TAG, IWC and a Cartier outlet.  There’s a separate shop called Les Bijoux over in Mizner Park which has JLC, VC, Panerai and a few others.

·

Oh Lordy I feel like a bumpkin looking at that wealth sitting for sale . In my wildest dreams ( Singapore CBD ) I’ve not seen anything like this in Australia … In conclusion we are bumpkins .

·

The Mall at Millenia in Orlando can compete. It has Omega, Bulgari, Breitling, Hublot, Hermes, Rolex (Mayors), Montblanc, Tag Hauer, & Tudor boutiques and a regular Mayors Jewelers that has Bell & Ross, Cartier, Gerard Perrigaux, Grand Seiko, IWC, Oris, Panarai, Rado, Zenith, Longines and Ulysse Nardin, among others, all in one mall.

·

WatchTime had a great event at South Coast Plaza in September of last year.

I see you and I raise you my hometown in the East Coast of the Peninsula. We only got a couple of Seiko authorized resellers, our AD got dropped some time ago and one grey dealer for Rolex and the usual suspects. Most of the time I got to buy Swiss watches online.

·

Yeah for me it’s probably a good thing :)

·

I had a thought. Next time your in your AD ask if “their Sports watches “ are capable of being worn whilst using a block splitter on Iron bark or whilst using a pneumatic jack hammer . Far far more relavent that how deep you can dive with it on … Shock resistance as well as water resistance is the intelligent question to ask while your in a place with that much choice !

·

Awesome! But I’m kind of thankful that I don’t have that privilege. It had ruined me.

·

That’s amazing!  Looks like how I imagined Wayches and Wonders to look like. Lange & Sohne?  Roger Dubuis??!!  That’s getting pretty far in the weeds for a mall 🤯

My cuz is LA will try to find this place next time I’m down for a visit!!!

·

Which ones are actual stores, and which ones are just showrooms? 🤣

·

Life behind the "Orange Courtain" 🍊 is awesome Love South Coast Plaza for that very reason. Actually so much to live in the OC

·

It’s the only reason I like going to that mall.

·

That mall is the reason I started tagging along with my wife when she goes shopping. Now when she's going shopping, she always asks if I want to come and look at watches. I've never shopped so much in my life.

This thread reminds me of how many Orange County people we have.

Is it actually possible to buy watches from Rolex and other stores or is it more you can go on a list

The serious answer is...

Rolex - nope...waiting lists - no inventory for sale - watches for display only

Patek - nope...waiting lists - no inventory for sale and no watches in the store

AP - nope...waiting lists - no inventory for sale and no watches in the store

Vacheron - yes, but not the ones we all want

Every other boutique generally has lots of product available. Some of the most popular models may be unavailable (i.e. Omega "Snoopy" - waiting list is even closed for that one), but you can definitely find plenty of watches.

One of my hacks is I will offer to put 100% of the price down for the watch even if I have to be on the waitlist. It usually works and I usually get the watch reasonably quick. If they won't take my money, then I know it's going to be a long wait.

Wow that’s awesome! Anything like this in New York, Westchester area or northern New Jersey? That would be awesome. I know of a few stores but nothing like this!

The best I found in NYC is the Bucherer TimeMachine on 57th (near Madison). They have three floors of brands. Here is a picture of the bottom level...

You also have Vacheron Constantin's flagship boutique right there as well as a Breitling boutique and a Grand Seiko boutique nearby. Very close is Cellini which has an amazing selection of the high-end independent watchmakers and excellent selection of watches. There is also a Wempe right on 5th avenue together with a number of other watch boutiques.

On the other side of town, you have the Watches of Switzerland in the Hudson Yards mall. Great selection of different watch brands.

NYC is a playground of amazing watch stores.

·

That's not fair.

Damn that’s awesome! I might have to do a tour of all those stores one day! Thank you!

·

I usually go to Rodeo Drive only because it is closer for me but this looks fantastic!

I applied to Tourneau and they never got back to me which is probably for the best as I would have spent way too much money on my breaks😂

It's still nice to go  window shopping after a meal in the mall, in those watch shops ,I tried your idea of offering the money up front but got nowhere

Yeah - doesn't work at Rolex. However, JLC is a different story. Omega won't take the money unless they can deliver the watch. Vacheron not sure as my purchases have been at the flagship store in NYC and that is a whole different arrangement. Once you are on the list at Tag, they will hound you with every new watch that is coming out.

·

Looks like waiting lists are the way to go as most things have them now

·

Last I went they told me Tudor was planned for a summer opening. I need to resist going.

·

Mind completely blown!

·

I dont mind being on a waiting list... but if your a luxury brand and you are gonna make people wait because you cant be arsed to invest in more production though you sell watches at inflated prices and purposely keep inventory low to elevate prices even more... nah screw that I would rather be on the waiting list for a microbrand that is only producing small batches because that is all they can afford at least they are trying lol
