Anybody else taking advantage of the YEN decline in value???

Anybody else purchasing directly from Japanese sellers at about 25-40% off retail US price? I know I am. ๐Ÿคค๐Ÿค‘๐Ÿ˜Ž

Still amazed how the numbers lie, it is at home on my 16.5cm wrist. Shockingly, no one seems to rave about their new tapering braceletโ€ฆ

Yep, I found some Grand Seikos that were US exclusive that were then re-released in Japan under different reference numbers. Because there were no American prices to price against, the savings were even lower for these identical watches. Wrote about it here: https://www.watchcrunch.com/K.evin/posts/total-steals-grand-seiko-sbga443-shunbun-and-sbga445-taitetsu-17690ย

I'm on my 4th cheap Seiko in the last 1.5 months. I've been using Shoppinginjapan dot net. I also was in Tokyo last month...I live very close to Japan.

There is a certain allure to these websites with JDM watches. I have had a good hard look just yesterday, but I have abstained. I'm currently consolidating what I have, using up as many parts as possible, improving on what is already in my collection. There will not be a new watch for Christmas. (Even though some new parts made it.)

I will just sit and...and ignore the JDM siren song.

Yeah, the bracelet is AWESOME! It has enough removable links that it fits my 17cm wrist.ย

Iโ€™ll make you a deal! Iโ€™ll sell you mine for $9k. You get to save $2,600 and sales tax! I get to fulfill my lifeโ€™s ambition and become a watch flipper! (Also, I already have the SBGA463, which is also a black titanium spring drive diver! Ha!)

Wow that actually looks fine on your wrist!ย

Thanks for posting a shot as I have a similar sized wrist but had written it off my list as I read it had a L2L of 51.5mm.

Goes to show, trying on a watch is the best way to tell if a watch is suitable.

this one took me by surprise too. The 23mm lug width did not feel like a 23mm either due to its massively tapered bracelet.ย

the L2L feels shorter due to the wrapping of the evo9 case. Its indescribable how it hugs the wrist.

go check it out already ๐Ÿ˜‚

A question for you. I was poking around a couple of japanese watch websites like seiya and sakura. Sakura is cheaper, but their warranty is a "Japanese warranty" whereas Seiya is slightly more expensive but offers an "International warranty".

What's the difference between the two? Does it matter? Are they both just gray market sellers, and I'm screwed if I get a bad one?

If you want to take a vacation you should come out to Japan to buy in person. ย There are a lot of watch shops that do not charge sales tax for tourists.

Many Japanese sellers have raised their prices in USD.
