Uncomfortable interview

Did anybody catch the latest Watchbox collector interview?

The lady seems so intent on disagreeing it breaks any flow.

Got to say she comes over a little entitled too.

I’ve watched so many collector videos, including with really rich people - but the enthusiasm always shines through. Not sure it’s the case this time..

I suppose from my point of view she’s not really disagreeing with interesting valid rebuttals for the most part. She’s just saying “I disagree”.

·

I can't be bothered with their typical tepid fluff but this sounds like it'll be great. Thanks for the tip.

·

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with it.

She is clearly born from a very wealthy family, probably the top 1% of the world's population. I think it is good to know/hear what those upper class people think about watch collecting for a change. We have seen too many "ohh I have to save up for years for this watch" or "oh no I cannot afford this watch".

At least she is very passionate and she knows her stuff very well, and she love all kinds of watches regardless of the price.

·

She makes such great points. I totally sympathise with her situation. I found a little niche micro brand company called Seiko. I bought a Seiko 5 from them and was horrified when a week later a friend bought one too - albeit it was with a rubber strap whereas I’d spent big on a stainless steel bracelet. I didn’t get mad at my friend, I blamed Seiko for making the watch available to inferior people and swore never to buy that brand again.

Head over to YouTube, plenty of super wealthy watch collectors that have a box full of RM and AP or you could watch Kevin leary who has millions of dollars of watches but seems to know next to nothing about them.

If YT aint your thing head over to Hodinkee, plenty of the same stuff there. 👍

I guess I m just weird 😆

There is a lot wrong with what is being said and described in this video but I don't think the lady disagreeing too much is one of them.

You are so right, there is so little justice left in this world.

all the poors had Cartier and they can’t appreciate like I do and they ruined it for me 😂

·

And the end is unboxing a jewelry rolex where the steel rolex can be had for a fraction of it. Maybe she doesnt learn her lessons or her friends cant afford a steel rolex anymore. She sounds like a nice lady who appreciate good and fun watches but some of her wording comes out wrongly. Lot of generalization (i like hublot and im cool against my watch saleman recommendation and the rest of ig).

·

I agree. I gave up a few minutes in.

·

Wait, this is 43 minutes? Can somebody put some time stamps to spicy moments?

Hell yes, Jack tried using the Hodinkee "watches are gender-neutral" hooey and she fired back with the truth that overwhelmingly women DGAF about internals and want fashion jewelry. Starts around 12:30. You have to call a lie a lie, and this notion that women are totally identical to male collectors is just laughable. Funny how they never claim that male watch collectors want interesting womens' watches. I guess they can only spread BS so thick.

Yes again, at 15:20 she says she wants a Hublot next!

Zzzzzzzzzzz

Me too!

·

I skipped right to the Mr. Jones perfectly useless afternoon.. I wasn't interested in anything else in her collection tbh

·

Note to self: Watch this after work.

When she says, "OMG, I sound like a complete snob..." old mate rushes in and says she doesn't. If he was fair dikum, as we like to say here in Australia, he would have said, "Yeah, you kinda do sound like a snob..." I mean, seriously, when she says she avoids watches that come in stainless steel versions because her pals buy them and think they have the same watch as her, and she hates that... wow. What is the appeal of watching rich people wank on about watches and needing them to be better than everyone else's?
