Smartwatch wearers - when do you wear it?

We were recently discussing on a thread how wealthier / senior people you might expect to wear high-roller type watches - can now more often be spotted in simple cheap Apple Watches / smart watches of one kind or another. I love my Apple Watch for running - it’s brilliant. But when the run is done I don’t want it on my wrist chirping away - I prefer the charm of a traditional Swiss or Japanese watch. So - wearers of smart watches and Apple Watches. How many keep them on all day? And how many others do something else?

I wear a fitness band on my right wrist. I like having notifications and it does not look like you have two watches.

For me it varies. Sometimes I’ll wear only for the gym, other times I’ll wear all day long even if I don’t go to the gym

D. When you wear a blue suit!

Ok ok this joke is getting old…

Booo ! smart watches ! get outa here!!

Jokes aside , I may get one for sleep tracking :)

Workout and yoga. The ONLY reason I wear it is to make sure I don't miss a call from my dad (85, lives w/us, might need me, etc).

So I don't have to carry around my phone.

I have a Withings Scanwatch Horizon - The most watch like smartwatch I could find and it gets worn for sleep tracking and around the house. Actually not bad looking.

Wear mine as much as I can stand because I am supposed to be informally using its heart tracking functions for my doctor. Double wrist a lot at home but rarely wear it out (which defeats the health tracking functions). Looking for a good thin bracelet style (no display or mini display) with heart rate and ECG as a substitute but no luck so far. Getting old (and fat) stinks.

I always wear my Apple watch for exercise and sleep tracking. Many days, I'll double-wrist for a portion of the day if I need to close the activity ring... by try not to double-wrist in social situations.

Whenever I feel like it to be honest 😅

Yea for me I only use it when I’m working out other than that it’s my other watches that get on the wrist.

This must be an age thing . I understand their utility and possible life saving attributes, I just have zero interest at this point to get one . I don’t like the potentially addictive behaviour I’ve witnessed by their owners .

I have a Garmin that my son got me for Christmas. Was not sure how I felt about it at first but now I love it, I don’t wear it everyday but if I’m out hunting or running up and down the river in my boat or doing some serious manual labor its great! I too have been tracking my heart rate and sleep I have even wore it on the right hand and an auto on my left like a tool but I try not to do that to try and avoid looking any crazier.

I’m not an owner but I am interested how others use them as I’ve dabbled with an Apple Watch or Garmin just for workouts. Ultimately I’m covered with my G-Shock so anything else feels like overkill.

·

I keep mine in a drawer.

I like the tech aspect of the smart watch. It wasn’t until recently that I got into this hobby and now I want to wear my mechanical watches as much as possible. When at work I wear my smart watch because I work in a refinement plant and don’t want to damage my mechanicals. When I’m off I wear my watch on my wrist and the smart watch on my ankle so I can keep my activity levels tracked. I am sure I get the few odd looks, but fuck it.
