Well...they're here!

Received my kit from DIY Watch Club, along with a couple books on watch repair from Esslinger. Gonna wait until the weekend before trying to assembly the watch. That way I can take my time and get it right the first time. 馃榿

Those books have been in my Amazon cart for a while. Let us know your thoughts when you get into it.

Good luck. Take your time, be patient and have fun.

Looking forward to hearing about your experience.

Let us know how the books are, too!

I recently built a watch from parts I bought on AliExpress. NH35 movement, Panerai-style case, sterile white dial, and a pile of handsets I picked a chose from. Actually just ordered another handset, the minutes hand I have in currently just isn't quite what I wanted. It really isn't too hard to do, just don't rush. Setting the seconds hand is always tricky for me, and if you need to cut the stem to size, make sure you have extra stems. I went through 3 or 4 before I got the length right! Otherwise, it's pretty straightforward, I'm sure you'll enjoy it! I'm already planning out my next build, lol! Probably going to be an NH34, the GMT function gives a few more options to play with in regards to color.

Cool!! Yeah building is cool but actually opening up a movemnt is waaaaay cooler!! And understanding where and what parts do is freaking awesome!! Also knowing to fix the internals workings is a great thing to learn and to to even service your own watch is sooo cool!

Ok I鈥檓 also a nerd鈥 馃槣馃嵒

That's next on my list! Just need a cheap sacrificial movement to do it with. Just want to take it all the way apart, put it back together and see if it still runs. Not going to buy grease and oils or a cleaner or anything. My hands aren't super steady, so I'm not very confident on the going back together part! Probably going to get one of those Chinese Domestic Unified Movements, you can pick those up for about $10, so no big loss if it doesn't ever run again.
