Breitling Montbrilliant 38mm

Have lusted after a Breitling for 30+ years. Finally bought one this year. Went for the cream dial for something a bit different. Wondering if other users feel a Navitimer should be minimum 41mm? I’m used to the feel and look of this 38 and I really do love it but still have a nagging feeling that I could have gone larger being as it is my first (and probably only!) Breitling

That is a stunning watch! Looks perfect on your wrist, particularly on the vintage two stitch strap.

Perfect size in 38 mm Congratulations!!!!

·

First, this is a lovely piece.  Looks incredible on you.  I was shocked at how well the larger size Navitimers wear.  I think I tried the new one in the 46mm sizing, it looked great but so did all of them.

All that said, nice watch, no need for any regrets.

·

Cheers to everybody who took the time to post. Goodnight from me and the grail

Looks great on your wrist and the dial looks busy in a good way, not too crowded. I think you made a good choice.

·

38mm looks good. Dial colour is great too.

I totally agree with you, this looks perfect on Juggy23's wrist. Nice choice.

·

Congrats. I’m a bit of a Breitling fanboy & that is the one I’ve been lusting after for years. I love the overlapping scales on the montbrillant but the killer is the 38mm size. Enjoy! It’s a great unique watch.

·

Looks great on you. Wear it proudly, it's a very nice piece.

I don't know a lot about Breitling, but I'm pretty sure the Montbrilliant line is based on the 1940s chronomat (which predates the navitimer by a number of years):

FS: 1940's Breitling Chronomat Ref: 769 - myWatchMart

These were 36mm watches, so your 38 mm watch is pretty close to the original (incredible) design.  It's an historically significant watch that deserves far more attention.

Also, I think your watch looks awesome on you.  Wear it in good health!

Oh, just found this post which provides a bit more history on the chronomat:

That original design is an absolute beauty

I as well think that the Montbrilliant was based on the 1940s Chronomat.

Why on Earth would it have to be 41mm or more? I'm no fan of any Breitling, really. There's nothing about the brand that really appeals to me anyhow. But if I really wanted to have a Breitling - which I wouldn't want, but let's for a moment assume I would - this one would be it, I reckon.

·

Looks great!  The whole point of Breitling is readable instruments for pilots, so the watches are generally larger than the classic size.  I own a Montbrillant Datora that is even larger, but it works well on my large wrist.

·

Stunning watch! Enjoy!
