The new worlds thinnest mechanical watch!

Bulgari launches the Octo Finissimo Ultra, the world's thinnest mechanical watch (hodinkee.com)

The watch looks amazing, however, the NFT it comes with is a bit puke-inducing.

Not sure how well the QR code will age either, but I like it. It's definitely a marvel of engineering!

Cool to see a watch that pushes the limits. I’ve always been partial to slim movements - almost opposite of today‘s trends. Thanks for posting.

The engineering that has gone into it seems breathtakingly good. Not quite sure why they felt the need to put a QR code on the mainspring like that. Maybe they didn’t know how to decorate it and felt this leant into the style…

Just unfortunate that the price is so high, but at least you know where your money is going with something like this…

Bulgari is doing an amazing job lately from a technical standpoint!

But that QR (as you have said), I'm not sure it will age well, and I think it makes the watch look cheap, and that is not good being a 400K watch...

Also, they have released some new models with "sketch" dials, not sure about that neither... It sounds cool, but once you see them... Nope.

But that is just my opinion, here is a picture of those "sketch" dial Octos:

It’s hideous - I love it. Completely out of my league, but just have to admire the audacity of taking it thinner, and then whacking a massive QR code on it. Bvlgari really love upsetting the apple cart: we could even go to 1.5mm? I want to see that, just do it.

It was mentioned in one of the youtube review that the sharp edges of the watch case actually cut into to hand because of the thin profile, and makes it very uncomfortable to wear. Do you have that issue?

·

I'm holding out for the first atomic level mechanical watch. That makes it sounds like I could actually pull the trigger on this... I very definitely can't. But if we can do this with atoms then it's probably possible... maybe.. probably not??

I love their playfulness, and I have to admit that I find the "thin watch" thing more interesting than the "billion meters of water resistance" thing.

I actually think those dials look pretty cool actually :)

I cant help but respect the craftsmanship of super thin watches even if they can be kinda dishonored by a QR code🤣. It is stupendous that there is a working watch that is less than 2mm thick. bonkers.

The thinness is mind blowing, but that QR code is just plain wrong. The site that opens up when scanning the code is annoying and I suspect that it won't be long until they rearrange their web site and scanning the code results in a 404. Seems to be a case of building in a bit of "in your face"  obsolescence right from the start.

Meh.
