Brand new Seiko arrived yesterday, but I daren’t yet unwrap it
Hi guys, newbie here, modelling a new Seiko, but I haven’t unwrapped it, it remains boxed and hidden until I have the courage to tell my better half that I’ve spent more money on another watch (it’s not big, my wrists are tiny). Timing, it’s all about timing. I’m looking forward to seeing other forumites’ sharing their timepieces.

I’ve loved watches since I had my first Ingersoll manual wind in school. I prefer straps to bracelets, affordable to luxury, dress to divers, but I’m always open to changing my mind.

you could always start to wear it and when asked "is that new" youy reply "no hon, just dont wear it much".
I'd say go for it, if we don't hear from you again we will alert the authorities 😂 It's a great piece, loving the exposed internals through the dial. Deserves to be worn 👌

Cheers, thats nice of you to say, the Openheart is quite subtle, and the Ginza face is also not too loud, I’m hoping it will age well, unlike me!

That is why having a large collection helps.. it just disappears with the rest of them. They say not telling your spouse about purchases is a form of "financial infidelity", I guess whoever shrink came up with that was probably not married. Congrats sir!

I wasn’t really aware of the Presage range before, but every single one is a stunner, simple yet classic.
I’ve been dying for one of those! It may be my favorite Presage Seiko has put out.
I saw the Alpinist first, blown away by the pavement tiles, but the Presage was more affordable, and my first open heart; every time I see a brick driveway it reminds me of this gem of a watch!

Thanks, i can’t believe so many Seikos went under the radar, I only ever associated the brand with the (brilliant) 5 and the dive watches. The Presage and Alpinist ranges are new discoveries for me, you’re right, so many amazing textures and colours, unrivalled.
I just utterly adore this dial. If I was you I'd just wear it. If you die, you die. Some things are worth it.
Better to unwrap it than have her see you wearing a watch with the wrapping on.

My wife and I have an unwritten rule. I don't question her purchases, she don't question mine. I might get, "that looks new". And I usually use tip money, so I'm not taking from money we need.
