Do you or would you daily wear your grail watch?

I was talking with a gentleman the other day about watches and mentioned that my Speedmaster is my grail that I wear every day. He mentioned his grail was his Rolex. He wasn’t wearing it in that moment which doesn’t really mean anything but I got the impression that he probably wears is it once or twice a year for special occasions. Obviously everyone is different but the point of getting my grail watch was to be able to wear and admire it every day not once or twice a year. It sounded like he had another Rolex and a few other high-end watches so maybe he wears those instead. I don’t really care what people do with their watches I just thought it was interesting.

Do you buy a grail watch to wear or preserve?

I dont really have an everyday watch, I rotate through them.  If I got one of my grails I would wear it fairly often.

I don't know. My grail watch would be the JLC Reverso Hybris Mechanica.

1.8million Dollars. So i ain't getting one.

Can you imagine what the insurance would be like on something like that?

·

Yep, subject to appropriate occasions of course.  I wouldn't wear a Lange dress watch while doing the dishes but I'd happily wear a Parmagiani Tonda PF GMT.

·

I wear my grail pretty much everyday...for me, thats why I bought it, to wear...but my grails are mainly sports watches so they work for my lifestyle everyday....I can see if your grail is a Richard Mille...that's not an everyday watch IMO....

·

If I sold everything I currently have and then a Brinks truck overturned in front of me so I could afford it, yes I would wear my grail daily 😀

·

My grail would be worn at least as much as my other watches, if not slightly more.

I buy things to use them.

Like EVERYTHING everything? Or just every watch?

·

hmmm, I think it depends as peoples here are saying. Some watches are more practical than others for everyday use. There are no rules obviously, but I would definitely not wear a flashy and super expensive watch everyday. Mostly because I'm not into being a flashy person and would worry it attracts the wrong attention. My grails are mostly <$10k sports watches, so they could be worn regularly.

If you're lucky enough to afford your grail, hopefully you get to wear it more often than not.

I don't have a grail watch :( I'm probably not a real watch nerd. A lot of watches would do nice for me. But there is no "chosen one".

·

I , also, am grail-less.

I guess you could say that my grail is the watch on my wrist at any given time.

·

I used to have a $100 shirt that I never wore because it made me uncomfortable.

Too much money and I get uncomfortable.

·

Sure. I couldn‘t buy a watch and not wear it whenever I want. My watches are part of my day and my outfit.

·

My grail was a modern 36mm explorer long before Rolex actually made it an option. I was lucky enough to get one last December and I wear the crap out of it. I have never had a watch made me think “I should just sell everthing else” before and it happens literally every time I wear my explorer

oh just watches.

·

I wouldn’t wear my grail daily. I would wear it the same way I would drive a classic car, on sunny weekends in the summer and those days when I want to be a bit extra.

·

I wear mine 😊 I feel that my most expensive watch should get the most wristtime.

·

Yes. I do. I even sleep with it on most nights.

The Speedmaster is my grail watch also. i don't own one yet, however then plan is to wear it most of the time. Unless I’m doing something water related. 😅

I hope you get it soon brother😎. If you buy a new one I wouldn’t worry about wearing it in the water. mine gets wet literally every day when I give my daughter a bath and I want it in the pool. I tend to not wear it in the pool when I will be playing with my daughter though but that’s because I don’t want to bang it on the side of the pool or some thing. I also don’t wear to the beach when I’m going to be playing in the sand with her but I wouldn’t wear any nice watch to do either of those. Don’t let all the forum idiots scare you into not getting the watch wet this is directly from Omega.

My grail watch is a PP 3940 or the De Bethune Starryvarius.

I wouldn't wear them everyday as I am based in London and that may just attract the wrong crowd, alas. I would, however, wear it all the time in my flat or in winter when I can easily hide it under the cuff.

While not exactly a grail mine get worn everywhere. This one from 1977 and still going strong.

·

couldn’t agree more, I don’t remember the last time I saw someone wearing a Rolex in a non formal setting. They’re all safe queens belonging to people to hide them in a safe forever to just flip them.

·

I say wear what makes you happy - If your grail is what makes you happy that day, then wear it! For me, I cycle through my watches each day depending on my mood.

·

I don't have a grail watch, but when I think about it, the "grail" nature would come from it being very difficult to obtain, not just cost a lot.

If it's kind of expensive, but you can afford it, wear the heck out of it.  I broke my Seadweller surfing maybe 5 years ago; a few hundred dollars later it was good as new.

If there aren't any other ones, or parts are virtually impossible to come by, that's a different story.

Absolutely.  I wear my Explorer everyday (Or I wear my Casio "Royale" which is an awesome watch btw).
