My New Orient And Me: The Unused Shots

So, it is likely noticeable that I like to faff around when taking my daily wrist shot. So I thought I would put some of the ones I didn’t use here. Or some that I did use, but in collages or otherwise tinkered with. I shoot everything using my iPhone, very occasionally my iPad (thought not, I think, on the Orient yet) and every now and then stick a clamped on mobile phone lens kit on the front. Today, I even got out my light box type thing.

And sometimes, I faff around and don’t use that version anyway:

But would make a good book cover or something. Might do that one day. Sort of a working class One Man & His Watch.

Tremendous shots! Like that rubber strap! Where does that come from can I ask?

Cheaper than fish and chips…

When my Mrs told me what she had on the way for me (after the delivery guys cocked up getting it here for Christmas) I went and ordered this to arrive same day. Wanted to give the Casino Royale rubber strap look a go. It fits very well, and the matte with the bezel really works I think. I am not big on too many patterns and ribbing, but am also on the look out for a cheap deployment claps version. Unless I can add a clasp to this. Might try an FKM one at some point too.

I've just had a Barton tropical blue rubber arrive for the Ray 2 but I haven't ordered the watch yet! Probably do that at the weekend! That strap looks really good!

I was quite surprised by it. Took some time to get used to it… largely because even though I don’t want the steel bracket getting too dinged, it’s also really really good. Plus, you know, it’s all part of the package that my wife chose, which makes me like it all the more.
I have seen what looks to be the same rubber strap at a much higher price though, and sometimes the further we can make our watch look from other well known dive watches the better frankly. I want to check the time without looking over my shoulder first. The curves on it make it fit almost exactly, maybe less than one mil gap and only when it’s flexing really. Looks like it’s made for it to be honest.

Can always stick the Barton on your Kamasu for a trial run — watches have to share straps. They get spoiled otherwise xD

edit: took some photos to show where it meets the case, bottom is flush, top has gap because of flex.

I am immediately stealing the word “faff“

I can’t claim to have invented it. It‘s a colloquialism, and ironically, one of its meanings would be a fracas.

Fracas Faff...has a nice ring
