For the longest I have been collecting watches, I’ve always had a secret hate of rolex. Not because it’s not a beautiful and technological watches but the treatment of ADs to its customers and sharks lurking around it, yes I’m talking to you flippers!
Fast forward to 2022, I had a change of heart since I discover the Explorer 124270. I was in the midst of hunting for what I thought is my final watch, I had a chance to try the new Submariner and I was glad and disappointed at the same time.
Oh you asked why, disappointed because its big for my wrist and glad as I already purchased a Seamaster 300, heritage model 3 months before. I don’t know why I’m so drawn to it that I couldn’t resist but buy it. Damn you Omega for updating the watch. I was going to buy the previous model but it was too thick and wobbling on my wrist.
So,to sub or not to sub? Well, after the lust and hunt is over on the Explorer, I am faced again with choices; the sub, GMT Pepsi, Batman or the lefty (since I’m left handed). Then it dawn on me that I have the Seamaster. It is the Burger King to McDonalds, the MB to BMW…you get my point. It’s not trying to be a submariner, it has its own identity and charm. Sure it’s value depreciate but I don’t care, I don’t resell any of my watches anyway. Besides this gives me a reason to hunt for the Pepsi and keep my bank account in harms way…since you know the chances of me seeing a unicorn is more than me getting an offer from the AD.
I think gmt is a perfect choice since you already have a beautiful seamaster. It would be nicer to have other complication in the collection in my opinion
Yes, I do agree. I forgot to mention I have BB58 in blue as well.
+1 for GMT Pepsi or Batman,
+1 for GMT Pepsi or Batman,
Well if I can get it. Otherwise I will have to level up and get the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Blue dial. It's my new grail watch and probably my wife will kill me if I buy it.
