Is there such a thing as grail watch…
I recently got a phone call from a Rolex AD after 6- or 7 months since I put my name on their wishlist. Yes, its not a typo not waiting list but a wish list. I asked the lady what’s the difference between the two and without hesitation she said wishlist is you can wish all you want. I had a chuckle but it won’t hurt to put my name. I never had rolex so if I was going to have only one, I chose the 124270. So after I got the call, I even hesitated not to pick it up since I forgot about it already. So, I told the AD I’d call them back the next day. I looked at my wife for a quick approval and she nodded. I called the AD back and said I’ll pick it up the next day.
When I got to the AD, I was asked what I’d like to drink so I asked for club soda. I thought there will be an automatic champagne offering but none. Not a big deal but I can summarize the whole experience it to a meh moment.
Nonetheless, I had a moment of satisfaction and validation yet somehow humbling. After being going to eight ADs and half of them are really bad experience, here it is my grail watch is on my wrist. Satisfied yes, am I done…maybe.
After having the watch for a week, here I am looking at the GMT Pepsi then calling the AD to put my name again on the list. So I’ve learn at least for me, there’s no such thing as grail watch, it is just another itch that needs to be scratched.

I hate the term, but have to admit that the Explorer probably is my "grail" watch. Tried one on last year and I was very impressed. Congratulations on the watch. I hope you enjoy it!

Congratulations and good luck on the Pepsi. I am 3+ years on the "interest" list at my AD for a Pepsi where I have bought 2 non-Rolex watches and hope you have better luck than me.
