Zelos Mako Frost GMT - The Ultimate GADA Watch - A 1 Watch Challenge (#1wc) Post

Alright everyone, strap in as I begin to explain why the Zelos Mako Frost GMT is the ultimate watch and why it should win the 1 Watch Challenge!

As many of you likely know, Zelos is one of the most well known and sought after micro brands putting out watches today. Elshan Tang is the one man operation responsible for creating the designs and running the business end of Zelos Watches, and his reputation for customer service has pretty much become legendary. He wants to ensure that his buyers are happy with their purchases and that they become repeat and loyal customers. In other words, he is committed to growing his brand, even if it means taking a short term hit to revenue. That’s how you run and grow a business folks.

The Zelos Mako Frost GMT itself is an incredible piece. Powered by the Miyota 9075 movement launched just last year in 2022, it is a true/traveler’s GMT, meaning that it has a jump hour hand which can be manipulated both forwards and backwards in one hour increments without the need to hack the movement. The date wheel is tied to the local hour hand rather than the GMT hand, so the proper date is always showing, no matter where you are in the world, and no matter how much of a difference there is between your local time and either your home time or GMT time, which the GMT hand can be set to. You can track both of these time zones in addition to your local time thanks to a 48-click bidirectional scratch-resistant ceramic bezel, a feature which is generally only seen on far more expensive pieces, as cheaper GMTs generally adapt a unidirectional dive time bezel to serve a GMT function. Moreover, when it launched, it sold for only $529, making it one of the least expensive watches on the market with the traveler’s GMT function when it launched. Only 150 of these beauties were made, so I feel incredibly fortunate to have managed to purchase one.

The GMT function isn’t this watch’s only party trick though. Its water resistance rating is 300M, making it equal in capability to some of the most revered dive watches on the market, including the Submariner and the Seamaster. As such, it’s a perfect summer watch to take into the swimming pool with you.

The fully lumed dial and bezel have been truly slathered with lume — this is a watch that can double as a flashlight! This is the perfect watch to take into a darkened movie theater for a couple of hours and still be able to see the time.

The bracelet has screw pins and an on the fly adjustment built into the clasp, for easy sizing and ridiculous amounts of on-wrist comfort, even as your wrist swells and contracts during the day.

It’s both sufficiently sporty and yet formal enough to be used for any occasion. It really is the epitome of a go anywhere do anything type watch. As a result, one could wear only this watch forever, and never have an issue. That’s what makes it the perfect watch to win the 1 Watch Challenge.

There was really only one Disney Princess/Villain who could ever be considered the perfect match for this watch:

Frozen’s Elsa obviously! I mean, the watch is literally called the Mako “Frost” and is all white, which ties in perfectly with Elsa’s wintry snow/ice magical powers!

I fully intend to freeze the rest of you out of this competition with my Zelos Mako Frost GMT!

That is a beautiful thing, if I'd have known that existed I'd have got one. I'm in the UK and my sister is in Australia so regularly wear my GMT so I can make sure I can call her at the most inconvenient time! 😄 Jealous.

Have you seen the Borealis Estoril? Same features, on pre-order for $500.

Do they have a full lume version, can't see one, the Zelos you showed ticked ALL the boxes! 😄

Did you change the title of the post to proclaim the Zelos as the ultimate GADA watch?

Shots fired, my friend.

No -- the title was edited to add the 1WC hashtag. Nothing more.

I did the same.

Borealis has a great GMT. I own both a Zelos and Borealis and can say they’re comparable in quality for money. Thanks for sharing. I’ve a Hammerhead Bronze Frost. I Love their Frost editions.
