Look at me...look at me! I'm the watchmaker now!

So I was the lucky winner of the giveaway for the DIY Watch Club kit that @Max so generously offered up.  I'm pleased to announce that I have finished the build...and apparently successfully (go figure)!

The hardest part by far was fitting the hands onto the pinions, and trying to figure out the correct amount of pressure to use.

The timing on it is pretty good, especially for a Miyota.  The watch is flipping the date within 5 minutes of hand-indicated midnight, which I think is pretty good all things considered.

I won't be keeping the watch, however, as I have some similar pieces in my collection already.  Instead, I am gifting the watch forward and am going to be gifting it to my father in law for his 70th birthday. He doesn't own any automatics, so this should be a great icebreaker for him!

Great job buddy, better man than me. I always get to the point of fitting the hands and then everything goes to shit and I loose my temper and either bend them or throw the watch against the wall 🤣

I like how your gifting the watch to someone else who will use it, instead of it sitting in a watch box, great idea 👍

Looks excellent. Great job!!!

Good job bud!  You didn't even need tech support from me 😉

It's a lot of fun!  I wil  say hands get easier.  First time it was 30-40 minutes getting them set, now it's under 5 minutes.

@JBird7986 congrats, well done and welcome to the DIY club. I made mine earlier in the year and it remains my only diver which I wear quite frequently (but will probably gift to family as my collection caps out and should I need an extra spot). Great experience assembling and really learned alot more about watches... a totally different perspective gained to this beautiful hobby.

Congrats and great job, bud! Cheers! 🍻

Wow Wow! That’s a nice watch you’ve DIY-ed
I’d definitely wear that as a daily. 💯

·

You have made us all proud!! Our little boy has become a man 🥰😢

·

A good gift for sure

·

DIY is on my to do list. 😄

·

I can fit the hour and minute hands with my eyes but I gotta break out the loupe for the seconds hand lol. When it goes on it’s a wonderful feeling.

I have the kit. Starting next weekend
