I know we all love to hate on them, but…

…why doesn’t Invicta have a badge on WC?  I mean, they are a substantially sized company and a fairly large player in the watch world. I’m not saying that I love their designs or pricing strategies or business practice, but it does seem like a fairly large oversight…

Am I the only one surprised by this?

I suggested it a while back when I was constantly requesting new badges. I think that there is a push to get the app out and new badges are taking a back seat.

This is quite a slight given some of the meme brands that have them. #Vortic

Quite possibly due to prior questionable practices such as fake sandstone, MOP , and meteorite dials, false claims concerning military donations and many other dubious practices over the years, all of which have been widely documented and proven to be true, over the years, on various watch fora. yet the CEO since 1991 continues to run the company. Sure they have made a few decent watches in that time, but they will always have a checkered past.

I agree. I see this kind of attitude elsewhere too. One of my other hobbies is home brewing beer.

I'm not sure if anyone is into it or not, but almost everyone's gateway into the hobby is a store-bought kit called "Mr. Beer" which costs about $40. It has everything you need to make your first batch, from equipment to ingredients.

Mr. Beer makes objectively mediocre beer, and the equipment is difficult to sanitize for reuse. Just like Invicta, it'll likely work once. Might even work many more times, but statistically, eventually, something bad is likely to happen. You're not really out $40 though; you've discovered a whole new world of things to make you happy during your time on earth!

Gateways open the door for you to decide if you want to keep spending $40 every once in a while when you run into problems, or if you'd rather dive deeper. There are more expensive kits out there that will last you nearly a lifetime, or you can jump off the deep end and start building your own parts and developing your own recipes.

Just like with Invicta, long-time beer hobbyists roll their eyes at newcomers who experience problems with Mr. Beer. The snobbery is disgusting, IMO. People tend to not remember their own humble beginnings for some reason.

We should love Invicta for bringing new people into the hobby, instead of chastising their owners for not having a Rolex. Invicta clearly doesn't cost as much as a Rolex. They have their own place in this world, and no one else makes cool-looking Star Wars or Disney partnership timepieces quite like them. Every single thing on this earth doesn't need to appeal to every single person in order for it to deserve a little respect.

It would appear that WC has corrected the oversight! There is now an Invicta badge!

·

Well it's time to get the new Invicta badge! this post could be the shopping cart. I seem to remember @OscarKlosoff doing something similar to acquire a Hublot badge

I actually didn’t ask for me…I don’t own any Invictas. I just thought it was odd for a company like Raven (which I’ve never heard of) or About Vintage to have one, but not a massive watch company like Invicta.

·

It's a valid question, Ironic that a badge appeared. I asked about it a couple months ago. To be honest I think they have some gems hidden amongst all the over the top models.
