Vintage Caravelle on the way.

Image

So, I saw a Caravelle watch on eBay and somehow it ended up on my purchased list. I bid on it not really thinking I would get it. I don't want to use the sellers pictures so you're going to have to wait until I get it on Tuesday. It has a Seiko turtle look to it with a blue sunburst dial.

I suspect it may be a frankenwatch because the date code on the movement does not match the date code on the case back. The movement says N7 but the case back says N6.

I knew that before placing the bid and I'm obviously okay with it. For the price I paid, I'm not complaining.

As soon as I receive it, the photos will go up. 😀

@stafford I just opened the package. No band but I knew that. The crystal is plastic as expected. It has some scratching that looks to be from rubbing on stuff while in storage. They should come out with some minor polishing. The base metal case has no sign of plating wear, just surface dirt. I wound it up and started ticking away effortlessly. I'm happy with my $21.50 purchase.😀 There is some lume on the hands and each pip at the hour markers but it doesn't last very long.

I found some spring bars that work and a black leather band. I did an accuracy test and it's gaining 52 seconds per day. Not great but it might be magnetized even though the back suggests it shouldn't?

I added a photo to the original post that shows a more color accurate dial.

I would call that $21.50 well spent! It also sounds like $3.50 on a tube of Polywatch (or $0.00 on some toothpaste...mmm minty fresh!) And the crystal is also sorted! Nice!

Anti-magnetic the mean it won't get magnitised 😭. That said, and taking into account the piece rattling around in the mail... less than a minute a day is liveable 😜

@stafford I buffed it with a sunshine cloth I use on my fountain pens and most of the scratches disappeared. I'll try the toothpaste next!
