Caring for your watch

Remember that you wear your watch next to your skin, just like a piece of clothing. To ensure your watch performs at the level for which it is designed, keep it clean by frequently wiping with a soft cloth to keep your watch and band free of dirt, sweat, water and other foreign matter.

  • For a metal band or a resin band with metal parts, use a soft toothbrush or similar tool to scrub the band with a weak solution of water and a mild neutral detergent, or with soapy water. Next, rinse with water to remove all remaining detergent and then wipe dry with a soft absorbent cloth. When washing the band, wrap the watch case with kitchen plastic wrap so it does not come into contact with the detergent or soap.

I see far too many people out there without a clean watch. I've made a habit of giving my watches a mild clean every week or two just ensure None of that greenish-yellow gunk builds up in the crevices. Clean your watch; it (and your wrist) will thank you.

The G-shocks have a big plastic guard screwed to the main watch which can get liquids under it. If it smells funny you have to take that part off to clean it. It's not sealed in any way.

I definitely rinse my G-Shocks in the shower quite often but I think some of them might need a deeper clean soon.👍

Thanks for the link to Matthias’ (? Sorry my Dutch names lacks) article: you realize he’s a comedic genuis as you progress into his piece, progressively hilarious. On reflection, pls excuse the little self-psycho analysis, this watchinitis thang lends so easily to jokes, laughter and ultimately I believe, camaraderie. Could it be healing? Hahaha!
