Carl F Bucherer have some gems in their collection

This is the Carl F Bucherer Manero Flyback 43., a gorgeous watch, when I saw the photos online I thought its one of nicest looking chrono's I've seen. But it is a big fella too!

43mm diameter (they do a 40mm for those interested) 15mm thick (the old 7750 problem can't escape it) 53mm lug to lug (yeah you read that right).

Lugs are loooong. I imagine it's from them up sizing an old design and keeping the ratios the same. It definitely wears large. For referent my wrist is 7.5inches or 19cm.

What I can say is the dial finishing is impeccable with a whole array of depths and finishes. A sunray finish on the outer ring where the indices lie. In contrast to the matte finish on the centre of the dial add the sunken subdials it makes for a beautiful watch face.

The dauphine hands and indices are also extremely well finished. With my only criticism the lack of lume. CFB have tried to market this as a cosmopolitan casual wear watch which I think makes the lack of lume even more confusing.

I actually quite like the white date wheel. It matches the text and marker fonts and the contrast works well. I think a matching wheel would have made the whole thing too monotone. .

I have to say CFB are on point when it comes to strap pairing. Not only are the straps extremely well made they match them so well with the watch. I have no desire to put any other strap on this I think it looks perfect as is. Except maybe ofcourse the bracelet some point down the line.

Another interesting point is it uses the same excellent deployant clasp as Zenith. I'm a big fan of these clasps as they don't curve too abruptly into the wrist. They are little on the bulky side though.

The watch has a decent caseback despite only using a work Valjoux 7750 movement base. CFB did add vertical clutch and flyback modules onto it though.
