Take Two: Buy a watch… winder, help save the world? #5 (Wolf Blake Double Winder w/Storage)

[Previous auction thread was hijacked by idiotic debate between myself and @Aurelian, so to spare everyone the pain of seeing our idiocy, have started a clean auction thread!]

Up for your consideration today is the Wolf Blake Double Winder with Storage!  And to sweeten the deal, winning bid also gets WatchCrunch swag!  WC t-shirt in size large comes with the winder.

A little travel case that accommodates an additional 2 watches

All in all, this Wolf Blake Double winder gives you storage for 7 watches!

And check this out!

All proceeds to GiveDirectly.  GiveDirectly DIRECTLY sends on funds to recipients in some of the poorest countries on Earth, with an incredible track record to-date.  The effort sprang out of the Effective Altruism movement.

The first 4 auctions worked out spectacularly, in which our esteemed colleagues, @Bessio's and @Robcollects and  @Ichibunz's and @Deeperblue's winning bids helped to raise $1,350 and $900 and $2,000 and $3,294, respectively, for a number of Kenyan families.  These are families earning less than the global poverty line of $1.90 / day.  All of the auction proceeds went directly to them, and the funds from the 4 auctions thus far will effectively double the incomes of 21 families for a year!

“Why are you auctioning the Wolf Blake Double Winder with Storage, @HotWatchChick69?”  Well, because I gotta hit my charitable pledge goal before the end of the year, and at the current pace I’m behind!  Until I hit it…

Here's what I propose:

Let's open up bidding on the Wolf Blake at, say, $20

  • Please post your bid by commenting below
  • Unfortunately, only bids from folks in the continental U.S.  The winder is so large and so heavy that were I to try to ship international, it would cost $20,000
  • The highest bid by Monday, July 11, 12pm PT wins the winder
  • Here’s where we do some real good for charity:  If you are the winning bidder, please then Paypal or Venmo me the winning bid amount.  I will make the donation of your winning bid, plus I will match that amount, to double the donation…  But that’s not all folks!  My employer will then do a full 100% match of that combined amount!  Thus, every $1 of the winning bid will get multiplied by 4!!!  Let me say that again - every $1 of the winning bid will turn into $4 donated to GiveDirectly!!!
  • I will then post the screen shot of the full donated amount!

So, in summary:

  • Win a Wolf Winder and WatchCrunch swag
  • Have the entirety of the proceeds go towards lifting a family out of extreme poverty
  • QUADRUPLE the size of your charitable contribution through my and my employer’s matching funds

Whaddya say?

@Robcollects has the high bid at the moment.  Per previous hijacked thread:

As much as I’m concerned my wife could have a strong opinion to my sending $$ off to HotWatchChick69, I’ll get us off at $200.

$250 Just bc @Robcollects brought it up

Nah, dude, you're thinking about it all wrong!  You're on the verge of winning a winder and swag.  That is all that's important.  Oh, also, freeing up dresser-top space for me so that I can buy more watches.  THAT'S actually what's most important.

·

Well if it turns out that way I may propose a parlay with @Deeperblue of some sort, given her post today, as I don’t really have enough mechanicals to justify the winder. I was more interested in donating. TBT

Ha!  Well, the good news is that there are only 2 mechanical winder slots, and the other 5 storage slots work for quartz and other non mechanical watches!
