So, I accidentally...
So, I accidentally ended up getting both of these today.
I genuinely had no intention whatsoever of getting these watches, but on a lark decided to call the GS Boutique in Miami to ask if they had a White Birch, knowing with full confidence that there'd be no way they had any just lying around. Dude answered the phone and told me that he had one in that very day - customer had ordered, but backed out. "It can be yours if you say the word." I told him I needed to think about it. "Okay, but just as fair warning, it probably won't be available for more than a couple of hours."
But, what I really wanted was the Lake Suwa. "I know there's a 2% possibility, but you wouldn't happen to have one of those, would you?" Long pause. "I've got one. But, those are reserved for established boutique customers."
That's when the brilliant flash of insight kicked in: "Well, if I buy the White Birch, then I become an established boutique customer, right? In which case, you can sell me the Lake Suwa."
When I told my wife this was all an accident, and I really had no intention whatsoever of even getting one of these 2 watches, she just shook her head and rolled her eyes.

Sadly, I can understand your reasoning. 😁 and also sadly, I never tell my wife the truth. She thinks my Daytona cost be a thousand dollars. bless her heart. I’m just trying To protect her in this craziness I call a hobby. Congrats my man and enjoy.

Funny, but prior to purchase, I would have assumed that I would prefer the White Birch dial, but after a couple of days, my favorite by a country mile is the Minamo - it’s more subtle.

It is insane how much that truly looks like ocean waves. I imagine even more so in person.

The good news is that she collects paintings. She chose the wrong hobby, because she constantly runs out of space in the house to hang her paintings. No such problem with tiny watches! 😜
The only downside is that for years and years she would buy paintings, and I would tease her mercilessly. Now that I've gotten into watches, I can no longer make fun of her for her weird addiction / hobby!
