2023 Acquisition Goals

Curious to know the crunch collective‘s 2023 purchasing goals.  End of year, I’m eyeing the silver and gold accent #rolex  OP 41mm.  What is on your shortlist for 2023?

That’s a nice watch. My wish list is a Datejust 36mm with the mint green dial..

I'm looking to get this by mid June or early July.

·

Already on the list for the Pelagos 39, so there's that. And i then intend to put my name down for a Rolex Explorer, the 36mm watch I've always wanted (glad they ditched the 39 version).

I also love the idea of a Speedmaster if the Explorer wait list rolled onto 2024, however I think it's a tad too large for my 6.5" wrist.

Big house renovation, and kid starting college this year (with another close behind in the pipeline). Not surprise expenses, but their extent remains an unknown, so no big watches this year, unless I get surprised by a gift.

That means:

1) Focus on organizing present selection: Get rid of ones that don’t make the cut, make sure everyone has the right strap.

2) Some sub $200 watches on the list. A Vostok, a Casio Edifice,an Orient (Ray or Kamasu), and maybe some Ali Express pickups (Escapement Time, Baltany, Pagani). And always the possibility of the Lunar Pilot.

When the opportunity does arise for more liberal watch spending, there are some Farers, some CWs, some GSs, some Longines, and a Breguet (that I will probably never buy because I’ll always have some other priority that outranks it) on the list.

And there’s always the siren song of those $20 eBay HMTs. They’re good because they take so long to come: They’re like horological nicotine patches.

  1.  Wanting to add the Rolex Explorer 1
  2. Breitling Chronomat 40 GMT
·

That’s gorgeous, I will probably get the cushion cased Hamilton Chronograph:) I love your choice.

·

Frankly?  I have no idea.  My collection never really works according to plans I have.

But I have vague notions  but no plans about the following.

I have a budget for 2 watches this year. Hopefully a #rolex explorer II or a GMT-master ii (if the AD allows it😏) and one green #omega seamaster. Already bought #seiko alpinist

I had my name down for that OP. Great piece. Love the sunburst dial with the gold indices. I was offered the green OP 41mm, which I jumped at.

I've been lucky with my Rolex AD. I've had the non date Submariner 41mm, the Batgirl and the green OP.

2023 wish list is as follows:

  •  Daytona 🙏🤞🤞
  • Definite: Christopher Ward C65 Sandhurst Series 2 on the bracelet - I will add more alternative straps to the basket!
  • Possible: Longines Spirit 37mm, a Farer or Baltic piece 🙈

Try the new 2021 Speedy, as I think you'll be surprised! Bracelet drops straight down, with a shortish lug to lug = 47mm.

Don't let the the case size put you off my fellow watch friend! Give it a try at least! 👌

Who makes a Vanta Black (Other than that company that makes the Apple Watch-looking thingie)?

·

PRX Quartz could be worth a try..........maybe the new mint green 🔥

·

Omega aqua terra. Though I may have to wait a little longer.

·

I would like to plug one of the holes in my collection this year.  They are, in no particular order, a chain & fussee, a minute repeater, a calendar(either Perpetual or annual), a world timer and a chronograph.  I am also considering going outside the box and buying a Seiko Presage with a sunburst dial because they are stunning and a Seagull 1963 because the watch is so epic.

·

This is the last watch I bought, and am still waiting for a watch I like more (that I can afford). Until that day comes, I won't be buying another watch :)

Plan is to get an Omega Speedmaster triple date in a decent condition

Silver Longines Spirit 37mm for me this year

I really really like this watch, it’s almost perfection in every way

·

Started the year with this from the AD, loving it as an every day. I have put down deposit on CW Bel Canto which will arrive in July. That’s my year I think. If Tissot comes out with 35mm PRX auto in SS blue dial I’ll grab that. Also maybe Longines Spirit 37mm in silver, it is perfection in my eyes

I think I might be done for the year, I got my birthyear speedy.  I may just get some watches serviced this year... possibly pick up a Peter Blake or Doxa sub 300.

·

They should start making more 39-40 mm pieces

That is a bloody BEAUTIFUL version of an OP. First on the list this year is 37mm Longines spirit blue. Then considering the Rado Golden Horse 1957 Black Dial.

Coincidentally, if I WERE to get a rolex it'd be a Grail in the form of the 36mm OP Red Grape 🍇

I've got my eye on a few watches atm. But one watch I just keep thinking about, the Cartier Santos De medium. This watch is a masterpiece, not only because of its rich history but because of its quick change system. I can change the straps within seconds to turn the watch into the vibe and environment you are in.

Looking for a nice second hand, full set. I'f you know someone who wants to sell, please let me know. Thanks!
