Eh, seamaster or speedmaster, apple watch ultra, and one of the various homages I like — maybe an Invicta 1953, or a Pagani 1729 or 1694. None of those are dressy apart from a different strap on the Apple. Can we spend the change on straps?
Preowned: Omega Aqua Terra, Oris Aquis, and any G-Shock (pick your favorite).
If I had to go new: Monta Atlas, Farer Stanhope and I’d still go with an Oris Aquis as my diver but I might have to buy it on rubber to get it to fit under budget. I think I’m $100 over on bracelet.

I'm gonna go with 3 watches that I don't currently own (cause that's more fun!):
Plenty of $$ left over for a couple of extra straps. Something a little dressy. Something a little out of left field (love that magenta color), and something solid and no-nonsense (and to finally get that German Flieger!).
It’s a good thing my preference is for the older models then isn’t it? I didn’t state ‘new’ or ‘current’ either. I actually like the ones without the wave, and the older planet oceans are nicer too, to my eye. Was browsing a moment ago.
But, I am unlikely to be buying.
edit:
here, funnily enough, is one that I think is current model, and would leave change from the 5k imaginary money that would be just enough for the three watches I suggested, off the cuff. I still prefer the older models tbh.
So a total of $4,975 for a sport watch that's perfect for travelling, a classy and highly accurate dress watch and a solar powered watch that I can wear whilst repelling an alien attack.
So we’re saying $5 grand for this year right? And then we get to spend again next year? 😉
Ok seeing as we’re coming up to Christmas I thought I’d go for a festive theme. Red tones. I’d want a chrono, a GMT and something dressy / old skoolish. I also like going off the beaten path / avoiding the obvious (diver, g shock, Seiko etc to mix it up from what others will suggest)
Hanhart 417 ES. Good enough for McQueenmeister, good enough for the rest of us. I mean… just f****g look at the thing. And for under 2 grand. Ridiculous. Probably my next pick up. Then…
Cos the budget couldn’t stretch to a proper tank must, I went for the Oris Rectangular in red. Perfect for Christmas Day dinner, carving the turkey and being a boss. Then…
Sporty, swiss mechanical, designed in England and one of the best and most interesting micros around right now. Farer Crooms II.
I reckon with these three you’ve got £650 / $800 to get a gshock / Seiko turtle if you must or at least a nice watch roll and some straps.
A pre-owned Globemaster on a bracelet. Yes, I know this is only one watch. If I had extra funds I'd buy straps to turn this into three very different watches.
I’m going all out German on this one. If you get the bracelets on the Hanhart and the Sinn it will put you over the 5K by a couple of bucks, otherwise it possible to get all 3 at just under the 5K mark.
You’ll get a Chronograph, a great everyday watch with the Sinn 556 and the Muehle-Glashuette S.A.R. Rescue-Timer can do anything you throw at it, so definitely a great dive watch. Even the Sinn has 200m of WR so very versatile as a everyday piece 💯
Tudor Ranger, Longines Conquest V.H.P., and Hamilton Pulsar. Even at MSRP, this should be just under $5000.
Puts me just a touch over $5k, but these are my initial thoughts.
Recent picks:
Everyday, Towson Watch Company Cadet $1250
Diver, Zodiac Super Sea Wolf pro diver, $1495 in steel (the picture is my titanium one, but steel is more common)
Casual dress and a quartz, as I like having one in the collection, Tissot Perpetual Calendar $450
So for £4,224. Large Solarbeat Tank from Cartier for £2,660. Seiko GMT Orange dial for £400. Christopher Ward C63 Sealander Jura Green for £770.
About £400 left for different straps and coffee.

oris aquis on bracelet $2200
Squale 60atmos $1250
Doxa 600t $1550
Daily/Field/Complication: Christopher Ward C63 Sealander GMT
Dress: Orient Bambino 38mm
Diver: Tudor Black Bay 58
Retail today is: $250, $1020, $3475 = $4745.
The BB58 on a bracelet puts me at $5095, but I think I would make that work.
Panerai PAM 005 €4000
Nivada Grenchen Antarctic Spider €900
Lorus Quartz Mickey Mouse watch €100
I’d buy preowned to get the best value:
Black Bay 58 $2,900
GS SBGW231 $2,900
Casio W800 $20
total: $5,820
It‘s over budget but I think it’s worth waiting a little longer to save up for. This is actually my current collection and I love it!
On Chrono24:
This Speedy Reduced is $2000
This Grand Seiko is $2640
Timex Q GMT $220
Preowned: Omega Aqua Terra, Oris Aquis, and any G-Shock (pick your favorite).

Where are you buying your Omega’s from? Alibaba?
oris aquis on bracelet $2200
Squale 60atmos $1250
Doxa 600t $1550
must have more divers!

Merry Christmas 🍷 🥂
Put my money where my mouth is. A GMT, Chrono, and Field.
Monta Skyquest
Farer Chrono-Classic
Serica WMB
Really solid line up there. Bravo 👏🏼
Seiko SLA057, Seiko SRPE55 and Seiko SZSB011 (which just so happens to be my current collection). 😀
A pre-owned Globemaster on a bracelet. Yes, I know this is only one watch. If I had extra funds I'd buy straps to turn this into three very different watches.
Glad I am not the only one to use the Farer.
Farer looks great! A micro brand I have seriously considered.
Serica 5303 1290€ (1337$)
Citizen AQ4100-57L 2005€ (2080$)
Christopher Ward C63 Sealander GMT 1285€ (1330$)
Overall 4747$ (enough for a great G-SHOCK as well)

For fun, chose 3 watches that I don't own. These are not frequently owned even amongst watch enthusiasts:
Zelos Abyss 3000M Diver for $700
CW Bell Canto (when the next version is released) for $3,600
Agelocer Skeleton Tourbillion normally $1100 but 30% black Friday discount ~= $700
Serica GMT about 1500€
Nomos Ahoi 3200€
Islander around 350€
I wish I had more informations about you like, what kind of person you are. More casual?...
I am going to answer though, with today's pre-owned prices. Source: Chrono24.
Let us know what you decide
Really good question.
I would go with the Nomos Club Campus 38 as my dress watch (1.200€)
For my everyday "office-watch" I choose the Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 in Blue (850€)
Last but not least my fun weekend watch is the Oris Auqis Date Upcycle (2.200€)
For the remaining 750 there is some place for watch storage / tools or a weekend trip to link the watches to events and my life :)
This would be a great start to any collection...All quality pieces without "diluting" the lineup with a $200 watch 😉
Diver: Rado Captain Cook ($1650$)
Pilot: Oris big crown ProPilot day date ($1600)
Dress watch: Longines Flagship Heritage ($1700)
