I do think it is not too thick given it’s an automatic chronograph with an NE86 movement, which is quite thick by itself. And it doesn’t feel top-heavy on my wrist either.
It doesn’t really bother me; as you say it does the job very well nonetheless. But it’s quite peculiar as the difference in brightness is obvious
