Star Wars x Fossil watch - May the 4th be with you

Yep, another company is using the massive pop cultural icon, Star Wars, to build up hype to sell a watch based on this most famous brand. As a Star Wars geek, this collaboration has piqued my interest.

Having owned a number of Star Wars based watches (from Seiko, Citizen and even Invicta), I have eventually passed them on. I am hoping this one is a stayer (but I doubt it).

Are you hyped for this?

Something kind of Ball-sy about those odd numerals. I expect tritium was never seriously considered for this project.

Good pick up on the Ball-esque numerals!!

The handset seems to match the Heritage model they released not long ago. (The lightsaber seconds hand is awesome) Not to mention the little "Mov't" on the bottom of that dial (In your pic). Its looking to be a redesign of this guy here:

Is this a wearable size for smaller wrists guys? Fossil hasn’t been known for restraint in the past haha.

We'll find out on May 4th

Not hyped. It's very rare for a watch collab with any pop culture property to really work.

Which is a shame, as it's nice to marry two interests together. But this one? Nah.

Like everything if the design is right and the price too maybe. If the watch is 250 There's other options.

The numerals and translated "Fossil" use the Star Wars written alphabet "Aurebesh", the written form of the Galactic Basic Standard language.

The half and half dial don't really do it for me I'm afraid.

If only that green light saber second hand was a tritium tube….. ahh, missed opportunity

The Han Solo one is surprisingly tasteful, given many collabs like this look absolutely bloody awful. And, as I sit here, they're still available in Australia at several retailers for AUD$500 while on eBay the flippers in the UK and other countries have them up at AUD$1000. So I could make a very easy $500 (or more) here, as I'm sure the AU supplies will run out soon, too. But I just can't do it. It's not my style to do that.

As for buying one for myself... like I say, the Solo one is tasteful... he's my favourite character... it's a limited edition... but I just can't see space in my rotation for a novelty sort of watch like this. Anytime I went to put it on, I'd be thinking, why aren't I wearing my Tudor Ranger, if I wanted this kind of look, for starters.
