What brands do you guys want to see???

Recently left job in banking to sell watches in department store. my store sells Seiko, Longines, Tissot, Rado, Citizen and of course fashion watches. However, they want to sell higher end watches and trust my opinion to bring in  watches enthusiast want to see. what would you guys want to see?? I was thinking Oris and perhaps IWC? any recommendation from the watch enthusiast community would go a long way in making this possible. thank you everyone!!

For me, the best of the usual brands and new brands. I love a high end watch but I haven't got 10k

·

Well, your not in the UK, so my opinion doesn’t matter.

I love the idea of trying to help out some of the smaller brands if they could keep up with demand but that seems doubtful in a lot of cases. Doxa is one I don’t see in many shops that I want to try on. Maybe a little more affordable like Orient. Grand Seiko is a brand I don’t see in any stores near me too. Sinn is another good one, Junghans too on the subject of Germany. Even keeping some nicer Timex stuff like the Qs and Marlins would be cool. I’m sure getting these all set is harder than it seems but just a few ideas.

Really appreciate the feed back thank you! We are trying to bring in 2 more brands or so since display area  is limited.

Will Swatch let you go higher than Longines? Doubt it.

Maybe Montblanc and JLC if they are willing to play in that space.

·

I've been wanting to try on the new Longines ultra cron. It's larger than what I would wear, but for that watch I might make an exception! But none of the local stores have it.

I think IWC will be a tough sell alongside the other brands mentioned. No one is going to a department store to cross shop a Gucci and IWC, especially when they see the IWC price. In addition, the store would have to invest likely 3X as much in IWC as their total existing inventory. They also have very specific space requirements.

Given the existing brands, you may want to look at brands with less upfront costs and restrictions. Also, in FL you can throw a rock and find an IWC dealer. You mentioned Oris, which is good, but perhaps also brands like Zodiac, Yema, Jungans, Fortis, Formex, etc. Those would provide nice variety while not risking too much capital.

Watches I like but never see in any stores are

Orient

Steinhart

Gekota

Vario

I appreciate lots of my likes are microbrands and there for not likely to be retailed in a store but it would be great to try before I buy on line.

The high end stuff is well catered for as I'm in the suburbs of London.

Great call. I wanted to say Norqain for similar reasons, but they have really raised their MSRPs to the point of making them less enthusiast friendly, nevermind dept store.

·

I think Oris and IWC are a good choice, another high end brand that drawn my attention is Tag I see one of their displays I’ll often go in and they also seem to attract non-enthusiasts as well.
Another brand I really like though these guys aren’t high end is Certina. They make great watches and great displays, and as you have a Swatch connection already they might be something worth thinking about.

When I was in Quito I found an Orient boutique. I was quite surprised. I didn‘t go in though.

If you could land Oris, that would be awesome. Also Hamilton and man would it be GREAT to offer Fortis! I think Orient would do nicely also!

Looking on Google maps....is that in Equador? That's a bit of a trek from Essex in the UK!

Well I was in the area, it’s not my usual commute

·

I agree with Oris. In my opinion they make solid watches that are the next step up from the "swatch group price range" of $500-$1000 that most of us are familiar with. But not so expensive that they start stepping on the toes of Tag, Omega & others.

·

Some brands I'd consider are Ball, Hamilton, and Oris.

More important- are you able to get us a great discount?😁

I’ll do my best to push that watchcrunch discount! 😎

You left banking for retail watch selling??

Nomos is interesting. German entry luxury with respectable movements and brand independence. Minimal overlap with the other brands you listed.

Other brands (GS / Tudor...) likely have high upfront cost and other requirements.
