I would've hated that store experience too, but damn that cherry blossom does look incredible!!

They wouldn't let me take pictures wearing it either, as they said they had previous backlash from the people who actually bought the watch.

That’s weird. Every AD has always let me take pics. And I agree the hard sell is off-putting but at least you know when you are ready to buy, there’s margin there.

There is always a used market, too, although you don’t get the 4 year 0% financing. Not that you should borrow money to buy a watch, but with this inflation, the 0% financing is like making money every year.

Very true, I wouldn't buy it unless I had the cash, but as you say, I may as well earn the interest off it myself.

The guy who invited us in was great, not pushy. But the store manager got my back up.

Wouldn't call his area manager for a 2nd discount unless i committed to buy it at the discount, so told him not to bother himself and left.

Not sure he liked it that I knew more about the watch than he did. 🤣

Call Monica Barrett at Righttime 303-862-3900. She will ship anywhere. 10% wouldn't inspire me & I gave up drinking decades ago. She ships anywhere in the world. For US folks outside of Colorado she discounts the watch and no tax! Righttime has been a GS AD since the humble beginnings of GS in the US. No financing but when you are ready to buy great pricing.

That is a pretty great deal. In the U.S., the Consumer Price Index (CPI) has gone from ~253 to ~301 over the past 4 years. That means that inflation (as measured by CPI) would have reduced the "real" buying power of a dollar by ~19% over those 4 years.

For the sake of argument, let's say that CPI continues to grow at that rate over the next 4 years. So, you're getting a ~19% discount, plus financing enables you to smooth out the cash outflows. That's a pretty great deal.

Oops! I'm an idiot. I just took 2 minutes to think about it, and my math is wrong.

At the end of 4 years, you'd get to a run-rate discount of ~19%. But, you're making payments throughout the 4 years. So, you're going from 0% - 19% over 48 months. Thus the effective discount over those 4 years is 19% / 2 = 9.5%

Nonetheless, the fact that the financing offers you the ability to smooth out the cash outflows is a great deal.

I agree I will always take 0% if its there, it's costs nothing & is risk free. And I'm no sure why is was 0% or a discount as they are not linked and the loan would be from a 3rd party.

Again I think it was just sales pressure and if I had pushed they would have... "given" both.

You should be able to get up to about 10% in the United Kingdom on most watches, except the limited ones. I would imagine between 5500 and 5700 for the above watch.

They should also let you take pictures, WTF...

I was interested in a GS, was in the Knightsbridge London Boutique trying it on. Very friendly staff, left the shop to think it over. Later found watch online at an AD, can just 10% off with a new customer discount code which worked. Asked the Boutique if they would price match, and they said; "I would like to inform you that we do not do discounts in our watches, neither should our retailers. Many thanks for making us aware of this, so we will forward this information onto the Wholesales team." They did offer to throw in a couple of straps however as gifts.

That was also the impression I had, that the 3rd party AD's weren't really meant to discount with certain brands, but it's the only way they can separate themselves from the pack.

I’ve received 1k off a new GS SLGH005 White Birch & SBGE285 Mist Flake at my AD. I forgot how much I received off my SBGA413 🌸 Shunbun but it was around 10% I believe. I will be using @K.evin method when acquiring the US SBGA415 or SBGA445 from JP.

Answer to your question: I got nearly 20 percent off my SBGA2373 when I bought it around a year ago. In Malaysia. So I paid just over half the current RRP in the UK. Lucky me!

Like MasterZen above I'm a buyer in London and got the impression that discounts were not on the cards last time I was in. I plan on returning in future and hoping that as an existing full retail customer I can parlay that into a saving on a future more expensive model. I'm playing the long game... 😉

It was in Mid Valley, the Seiko store has a special part at the back just for GS. I believe they are now being directly managed by GS and so there's less room for discounts now - but may still be on older stock. Good luck
