I appreciate RM from a technical point of view and the work that goes behind the watches. But other than that reason their watches just don't look like worth the price they ask for in comparison to a Lange or what AP does with their Code series. Also some of their designs really make the watch look like a toy.
The RM57-01 Jackie Chan is the only RM I personally like. Rose gold case, the dial work and overall watch that looks good for the price. Not like you can buy one at retail which was already half a million 😅
Richard Mille is the real deal. He designs with advanced materials, builds in house movements and insulates them from shock like no other watchmaker. It's a good watch but his celebrity spokespersonalities made the prices shoot through the stratosphere to places where no watch should ever go without an astronaut.

This is all true, but apparently that’s not what people care about, they just want to look cool and insult something they can’t afford.

Hublot is an even more controversial word. They have some really nice designs and have done some cool shit like the sapphire crystal, sapphire case sapphire band watch.
The problem with Hublot is they use a Selita movement that can be found in a $1000.00 watch and try to sell a watch to you at $75,000.00. Yes, snob appeal is a real thing in the watch community.

And a Ressence Type III uses an ETA 2824 in a 40k watch. It’s all relative, and it’s all hate - it’s boring to read.
I appreciate the horology and fine craftsmanship that goes into one, but I just cannot ever see myself wearing one no matter how much money or influence I have. To me, they are high horology fashion watches.

Richard Mille lives rent free in the minds of collectors.
The ultimate flex. No doubt they are technologically advanced with their materials and no doubt well made BUT they are, without exception, gauche.
Nothing screams nouveau rich like an RM on the wrist. If some redneck meth head won the Powerball, these are the watches they would wear.
If the opportunity ever arises then I will buy one, mainly out of spite for everyone else. I’m nice like that.
