Let's play a game.

You must buy a watch from the brand you hate, once you put it on your wrist you cannot take it off.You cannot sell it or gift it and once you die it vanishes.Which one are you choosing and why?(no mvmnt and other cheap chinese watches).

I think I'd rather cut off my hand.😕

This is awesome!

Okay, my answer is not to impugn anyone's taste or choice in watch brands.  This has only to do with me and my personal quirks / short-comings.

I think I'm incredibly introverted when it comes to any kind of attention from other people.  So, anything that would draw attention to myself is anathema to me.  That being the case, there are 3 brands that would cause me constant pain and agony to have on the wrist:

  1. Richard Mille
  2. Hublot
  3. Rolex

All 3 brands are instantly recognizable by the wider public, given their very iconic designs.  All 3 seemingly invite others to ask, "Is that a real X?" by complete strangers.  Having that kind of conversation with a stranger is, in my mind, akin to swimming in the fiery lava pits in the 3rd ring of hell.

·

Some 55mm Invicta that was a collab design with Ed Hardy and Swarovski.

·

As much as I hate Hublot, Richard Mille spawns from a circle of Hell that not even Dante and Milton together could have imagined.

So yeah. Richard Mille.

This is AWESOME.  I mean, genuinely, that is something I wish I had the confidence to wear.

I need to be more like this:

Interesting, Richard Mille and Hublot came to my mind first too.

Richard Mille I probably dislike more. There are $1.50 watches on wish.com I dislike a lot less (and which I would rather wear) than any RM. But if I had to pick an RM, I'd pick RM67-01, as it is small and vaguely readable. But if I was gifted any RM it would go straight into the bin, regardless what it is supposedly worth. I would feel it my duty to civilisation to take that thing out of circulation.

·

I would choose a Rolex Explorer. It’s a good watch, but I hate Rolex as a brand. If that doesn’t count Hublot.

·

This is kinda easy.  I "hate" Invicta but I would wear a 1953.  I "hate" Tag Heuer but the new Autavias are really nice.  I am sure I can find one watch from any brand that wouldnt make me sick to wear.

Back when I used to deal in vinyl, we would buy albums by skinhead bands in order destroy them and take them out of circulation. This is no different, and you’d be doing God’s work by hucking an RM into a landfill.

There are brands I wouldn't want to be caught dead with but I don't hate any brands.  It's not like Hublot killed my dog or anything.  Not that I have a dog, but still. 😉

Meeeeee tooooo !!!

·

For me, the brand would be Invicta, but hate is too strong of a word. I have had bad luck with Invicta in the past. Three of the five Invicta watches I purchased in the past stopped working within six months all owing to reasons not covered by the warranty, and the cost to repair them exceeded the initial investment. Further, most of their designs, excepting their homages, do not appeal to me, being overly large and gaudy for my taste. If I had to select one, it would be the 1953, but I would be very surprised if it was working when I die.😉

·

Folks saying Richard Mille are either overlooking the requirement that you have to buy said watch with your own funds or are flexing. 😝

·

That's not a game, that's purgatory!

I concur, i have a few, all 4  or 5 digits. I like them but they dont get my wrist time because of the very same reason even though they arent exactly the hot models.

Oh and call me a weirdo and dont hate me for it, i have never lust over a daytona, never liked it.

The Daytona is nice but there are a lot of chronographs just as nice that aren't the victim of consumer insanity :) so I agree fully.

·

As long as I can put it on the opposite wrist, i'd go with a G-shock DW5600 or Casio DW290. Ugly, but it works and you can say you're going for the "Stormin' Norman Schwarzkopf" look.

Hublot and this one:

At least I'll get attention 🤣

·

Way too many bad watch choices for this exercise

·

I ended up with the most basic choice

(Image failed to load!)

Well it was indeed a simple choice.wanted something that i could wear in any ocassion that also had a lil fun in it because i am against the  conservative style and i do like unique stuff.

This omega really does it perfect for me.Funny how one of the watches i hate the most has made it as my choice. The colour scheme, sailorcloth size,it being a chronograph and the lil snoopy all made it a perfect choice for me.

Fair say, and besides the vibe and hype thing, i said what i said is very personal. i have had many opportunities to buy one throughout the years, it just not my cuppa😅, and i m ever so surprised how this could be so craved by many.

I remember one occasion i was choosing between this and a 1680, went for rhe latter. Another occasion was with a speedy, went for speedy, then zenith, then...... gawd, i lost count 😅.... It just doesnt rhyme with me.

Probably a Citizen Eco-Drive of some sort. I am not a fan of Citizen watches. If I chose any mechanical watch it would either become hopelessly inaccurate or completely fail after 10 or 20 years. Since I can't remove it, I can't have it serviced.  Same goes for a battery-powered quartz...I could never replace the battery!

Since the Eco-Drive's are solar powered and pretty durable I'd never have to worry about it breaking and being stuck with a completely useless watch on my arm until I die.  Maybe something like the Garrison as it's a basic Hamilton field watch copy that is pretty sedate.

I actually have one of those.  Nothing wrong with it, but it doesn’t really interest me much.  I think I’ve worn it once.  Should probably sell it.

Holy crap! That thing is gaudy AF!  A Dennis Rodman special.  (I need the barf emoji.)

A Richard Mille of some kind!;)
