Watch try outs gone crazy 🤪 - Tokyo edition
Well, my family considers my 100s of fun try ons to be crazy, but they can happily abandon me for fashion stores or dessert cafes.
So here’s an annoying amount of ‘try on pix’ that watch nerds ( = elite horologists ) might just find fun to look at.
Ask away if you want more deets on anything that grabs your eye. I’ve got first impressions now for most of these!
One caveat - they are all wrapped in plastic for try ons - so many don’t appear quite as stunning in these pics as you’ve seen before
Not pictured but also tried on were the quartz light blue limited GS, and several Prospex models - the ‘ever brilliant steel’ ones.

Can't really go by photos esp. those taken with a phone, although some of these might be close to the line regardless. Almost all phone wrist shots are deceiving due to focal length and probably look perfectly fine in reality. But Grand Seikos just aren't small watches in any case . . . they are what they are. Doesn't stop me ha.
LOL funny I came back from Japan last week. I went to Osaka, Tokyo and Kyoto did you also see bunch of Hublot's and Panerai's ? I actually wanted a Seiko Astron but walked out with a King Seiko Purple dial.

But yes, I wear several larger watches as long as lugs are well designed and have zero overhang
I very much subscribe to the ‘you do you’ ethos, and me as me is almost always wearing 40mm or more

I have almost uniquely small wrists, especially when compared to my general proportions of around 6 feet tall.
About 15.5cm? I think many women have bigger wrists.
So look at dial layout and colorway and details like that.
Don’t use my wrist to judge size, it’s very much not to scale.

The skyflake is very similar .. but different in subtle ways. Evo 9 of course but some subtle things as well. Will post more pics soon

Thank you! It’s the best of the turtles IMO. ceramic bezel, sapphire, and no cyclops and they embraced the turtle name with the dial 🔥

I know - that one was interesting! It was a full ceramic limited edition Honda x Seiko model, the rear rotor was a cool looking rim design. It's perpetual date to 2100. Looks like a chrono but is a solar world timer. Updates itself daily from GPS satellites. The hands spin around magically when you switch or update time zones. So different than my other watches but it grew on me.

I get grudging acquiescence from wifey and daughter on watch shopping. My daughter is more engaged of the the 2, she tries to talk the talk a little with watch dealers, commenting on dials and movements 😂
