Watch boxes - hidden in storage or out on display?

I had a bit of fun last week while putting away some kayak stuff in the garage.
I ran into a pile of interesting looking and beautiful watch boxes I’d put haphazardly in storage.   (The watches themselves stay in our living room on display)

Seeing them buried out of sight bugged me, so started work on a 'display' area so I’d be able to see them easily anytime.

It's an attached garage and very much my man cave.  So: a big TV,  speaker system with sub, a Taxc smart bike and fan system, weights and kettlebells, clean towel supply, suglasses display/storage and other random cool stuff like Ti camping equipment and carbon racing bikes.

The space is now even better with these great looking artfully made boxes on display.

Are your boxes buried and forgotten or out where you can enjoy seeing them from time to time?

Very cool display! Sadly my watches all sit in a safe. My wife keeps hers in a safe as well. I know,  silly two safes... mine has a few firearms as well. Anyway, the boxes are stowed away also.

Nice display!

I'm not that organized to be able to display my stuff. Watches in the safe. Boxes protected in containers.

It would be wonderful to be able to display everything - just not going to happen for me.

Thanks!

The truth is, if the pic isn’t cropped, my garage looks pretty ghetto, with tons of crap stored in messy random ways.  But at least I can pimp  the little area I look at when riding or lifting weights

It strikes me as a bit odd to keep the watchboxes in safes..?  Maybe a bonkers expensive watch if I rarely wore it.  My boxes were in a large rubbermaid storage bin.  Clean and dry, but not needing bank vault security.

Maybe arrange boxes decoratively with some cool lighting - in the safe - so you get amped up anytime you need to open it 😉

I get it  - in my current place I can pull this off, but this is the first time I’ve ever had an attached garage that’s purely my space

Every residence prior to this one it would’ve been hard / impossible

Always in the safe. Could not bear to have any get taken. The fun is taking them out and having 7 on rotation. The sentimental ones are for high days and holidays.

·

I keep them in my firearms safe.

Insurance will only cover 2500€ worth of watches, I'f they are not locked up .....

I was reading your reply and was smiling. I stow the boxes on a high shelf in a closet. Safe space is so limited. Of course the expensive watch boxes are part of the watch value. I'm buying to enjoy so value is something I rarely think of. Now I'm inspired to do something with the boxes. Looks like great motivation for you. Or, keeps you in a happy place while working out.

Half of my garage, and part of one room have morphed into where we workout. I totally get it. By the looks of things,  you are way more active than me these days. Another motivation! I say uour home should be filled with what you love. You got that going on in an awesome way.

This is our little set up. Very cluttered

Love it!
you’ve got some great space.

Gretzky 🤘 - sweet.   I’ve got a massive photo of myself windsurfing to workout with.

I live in a pricey neighbourhood, so our compromise was on the square footage.  A dedicated workout room ~ fully in the house~  is like living the dream for me.

💯 Yes - that’s it!!

So for my watches, I prefer somewhere I can enjoy them everyday.  A loupe and watch tools are always handy : it’s Atelier Fieldwalker.  Still thinking of more aesthetic ways to store.

I understand some cities and/or extremely expensive watches might need a safe, but I’m sorry to hear how common that is @ChronoGuy @mer1981 @Kelvinaston

Do inner and outer boxes also need the safe? Admittedly, I’m clueless about watch insurance.  My bikes are pricier than my watches, so going the safe route for valuables seems a Sisyphean task.

Take joy in your favourite things whenever you can (or whenever insurance clauses permit it !) 😃

Great set up to display your watches. Looks like you need to insure those bikes ! Not a lot to insure. They get boosted all the time in Los Angeles
