Having a strong connection to Japan and spending a lot of my free time in the Canadian wilderness: I cracked.
Ordered and now have the Kurono Grand MorI (Mori = forest 🌳)
Other than being a dial guy - this watch was bought against my better sense. 36mm - I prefer larger. 3 atm? I’ll kill it accidentally with water. Fully polished hands that are a bit too similar to each other - hard to read and are prone to disappear. No lume? … But I love lume 😢!
-> But the traditionally made hand made dial, in Kyoto of all places, that has a forest shadows theme ?!!? Crap 💩 had to order.
One of my Japanese friends I met while living there was in his 3rd year journeyman level of traditional bow making. Had a couple more years in apprenticeship 🤪
So I was always fascinated and respected the people who keep those traditional arts alive. Urushi enamel and it’s polishing are one of those ancient arts.
Another fun thing I’ve noticed - 36mm steel on a leather strap - weighs and feels like nothing at all.
Won’t wear this one too often but I love every time I look at that dial.
