Best watch for a possible non watch person?

When I lived in Oregon I helped put on cyclocross races that were used to raise funds for local search and rescue. There's a raffle after each race and a large end of the series take with some larger prizes. I'm donating a custom built watch and want to build one that'll hopefully be appreciated by the winner. I have a couple builds in mind but thought I'd see what others think. I have several months before it needs to be done but I might as well start planning.

Field watch 38mm with WR100 rating. It's more versatile than a A, B, or C. Unless this is what you meant by A.

For a non watch person who runs in cyclocross type circles I would say something durable and easy to read at a glance would be important. Also, a non watch person might find the convenience of a solar powered quartz  appreciated. So...I would go with these features plus 200m water resistance with a screw down crown in a  40-42mm diver with a rubber strap.

Here's a few examples I've built for each option.

Seeing your examples, definitely A. They are gorgeous ! How is the WR on these babies ?

If I were you I would build a watch that can be worn daily and as a dress watch that has a tachymeter. Also having something on the dial commemorating the winner. Nothing super fancy that they would want to wear it. Not put it on a shelf like a trophy.

Given that it's to raise money for a Search and Rescue organization, A - in a traditional field watch style.  Unless that is the team also does water rescue, then C.

·

A basic three hander. Most non watch guys see a diver style and they'll dunk the watch without a care. Good for them but if you didn't build the watch WR....well.

·

My guess is that the vast majority of muggles would recognize only one "iconic" design - the Rolex Sub.  Given that, and the fact these muggles are athletic, I suspect they'd appreciate the diver design.

Even a non watch person can have personal preferences. So it's better to ask them first about what they like. Because there are way too many variations in the watch market.

Apple Watch.

Aliexpress can supply a watch with a custom logo you want on it.

The yellow is unknown but the rest are 100-200m

Thanks.  It's an aftermarket skx013 case with a snk623 dial/day wheel, and 62mas hands.  It was a surprise for a friend.

For a non watch person? 38-40mm, solar quartz, 100m water resistance, full numerals at each hour, on a bracelet. They don’t need to set the time more than once, no batteries to change, don’t have to worry about water, easy to read and most people think a watch on a bracelet costs more.

Maybe offer a voucher good for a custom watch? The winner world prob be flattered that you asked them.

Those are all lovely builds 👌 I would defo say quartz in config A or B.

Not to sound like an ass, but I would not wear any of this cycling. Too heavy and delicate. Give me a G-Shock, timex, digital heart rate monitor, suunto... Silicone or plastic strap. I would suggest a custom casioak with the colors of your organization on the indices or hands.
